Starting to Look like Woodley
Typically a good track, but lately the fairway bunkers are unkept and growing over with weeds. Also, I noticed that OFTEN my ball was laying on bare spots or dead spots in the fairway or around the green. The grass has not been well cared for this season.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the staff budget was being cut way down with Covid as an excuse. After all, it is LA.
TERRIBLE COURSE - TERRIBLE STAFF
It was my first time playing this course and I have to tell you I was very disappointed. The fairways are equivalent to Van Nuys Golf Course and the rate of play was very slow. After playing the first two holes I went back to the clubhouse and asked for a rain check but they denied me and said they do not offer rain checks. I wasted $40 for nothing. The staff was very rude when asking for a rain check and I would never play this course again!
Beautiful day!
Teed off at 11:55am, was a single paired with 3 great guys. Fairways and greens in great shape. Water fountains on course functioning and much needed!! Carts hooked up to my blue tooth and rocked out!
Electronic scoring a plus! Drive from Camarillo and had an awesome day!! Looking forward to playing here again soon!
Good Golf At A Good Price
This is a no-frills inexpensive golf course. The greens rolled very true - although they were also very slow. The sand in the traps was wet and hard as a rock. Not good, but fairly typical during this COVID period. The tee boxes ranged from very nice to very uneven. The fairways were decent - providing good lies most of the time. Overall, the course is a very good value for the money.
Great day!
Course in good shape for lack of rain here. Pace was great, no one behind us and group staying ahead. We'll be back.
Bad start, okay finish
Got to the course early, noticed a group waiting by the tee about 10 minutes prior to my tee time, asked the starter whether that was my tee time or the one before. Let me know it was the one before. Ended up teeing off alone as when my group was announced no one was there besides me, three holes in I caught up to the group ahead and found that they were in fact, my group. After that mixup the round was a bit slow but mostly uneventful. Main other issue is that the sprinkler timers seem to be incorrect, fairway sprinkers went off on the 14th fairway at 7pm and then the sprinklers for the 17th tee box went off once we got there.
Goodun, nice people
Encino is the toughest of the 3 public courses right there and usually a good time. The starters try but don't always get it right. They don't marshall the 1st tee at all and there's no marshalls on the course; consequently, it can be a bit of a free for all. Our tee time was held up because the group in front of us were absolute beginners and took 9 shots to get to the green and the other twosome booked at the same time as us didn't show. We had to get someone from the clubhouse to help and they did thankfully, but if we hadn't we'd have stood there for 30 minutes. After that was all straightened out, it went pretty well.
But the courses in "pretty" good shape, fairways are a bit thin, but good. Greens are in good shape and well taken care of. Not much sand in the traps, but playable.
Overall a good time, the locals that play there are usually really fun and friendly so getting paired up is often a god thing. I like the course and the staff in restaurant are very friendly. On balance, a really fun day and well worth the $15 twilight fee we paid and played 15 holes.
Long and Wide with Great Greens!
1st time playing Encino and enjoyed the day. Greens were wonderful with good bite. Fairways are forgiving but you need to allow for slice. Will be back soon given the great condition & only 4.5 hour round with a great bunch of players.
Nice greens
Encino is is pretty good shape. The greens were very nice. Fast and true.
Good Course
I live in the Valley and go to many public courses all over LA. This is a good course and kept in good condition. Good variation of Par 4s and 3s.
Guy likes bogarting the mic
It’s a great muni course for the money, pace of play is great, course is in decent shape, great driving range, but the guy in the booth with the microphone kept yelling at people. 4 instances in 10 mine. Maybe he was having an off day or maybe he likes bogarting the mic?
