Pace of Play!
Weekday golf teeing off at 1:30pm… think it would be a decently well paced round? Wrong, they sent out a tournament of high school kids in groupings of 5 peppered all throughout the late morning without informing anyone else teeing off aftwrwards, backing up every tee time until 2:30. There was no marshal or anyone keeping pace of play in check. We finished the front nine in just under 4 hours which is absurd. When my group finally decided to give up at the twelfth hole, we went to the proshop to see if we could have a rain check, not a refund mind you, just play another day. They said “no rain checks or refunds after you tee off”, no wiggle room, no understanding, just no.
Course was in decent shape but the greens were not!!
Heads up
I would like to know if greens are aeration treated Before I book. Usually Golf Now Gives you information. Not this time
Nice Track
Nice layout in very good condition right now. No hazards and the par three's are long. Great course to work on your game. Pace of play was good.
Some of the tee boxes have been repaired nicely. Greens rolled well. Fairways had good coverage. Sand in one par 3 bunker I found was fluffy. Pace of play was good though a couple in our group slowed things down a tad more than they should of. Fun time .
Drought affect already starting? Course is dying
A month ago, of course, it was good. Just had had some rains and the course had been kept in decent shape, the greens were nice.
Not any more. The place is dry, hard, and fast, which is fine for long drives and roll out, but at the same time grass is getting thin, the dead dirt patches are rock hard and crusty, and the place is starting to have that drought-stricken look already. Has the City put a clamp down on water use?
The greens were terrible today as well. Many of them were wavy, bumpy, some had been watered a little bit and others totally rock hard. Seems like the maintenance has taken a step back too, which is not a good thing, because overall it’s back to that not-so-fun-to-play situation again with these City courses.
Looks like it’s time to take trips farther out to places like Oxnard and may be, farther out East.
Very disappointed today, especially seeing how good it was just a little while back.
