Encino at Sepulveda Golf Complex

Fairways ok, tee boxes need attention, but greens good. First time playing this Encino course and was happy.

I was a little surprised that the quality of the fairways wasn't better, but the courses have seen a lot of action since the Covid shut down and the greens were still in good condition. I will always play these courses, but really wish the city would employ a few more professional greenskeepers to maintain the fairways. It isn't like cutting the grass at the park.

Rude staff. Poorly kept fairways and greens. Bad bad bad , even for a decently rated city course. It’s worth the extra cash to go somewhere better

For a municipal course, you cannot beat the Encino/Balboa complex. Either course is a quality parkland style course. Most fairways are tree-lined, but you can usually recover from a wayward drive. However, you do have 4-5 forced carries over barrancas (you can find your ball in them) which gives you a challenge. The greens have been better, but the speed was consistent. I've played plenty of more expensive courses with worse greens. They now use 4 tee boxes for almost every hole which made it fair for my girlfriend who is still learning. And this is a great walking course - the old style course where tee boxes are near the greens and you can generally see 2-3 other holes from the one you are playing. I am a 12 index, and I shot 12 over today. I love it!

The course was great but the pace of play was not good. We were backed up the entire 9 holes that I left early because it would have been over 5 hours for the round at the current pace. Conditions were nice and the course was challenging enough to have a good time.

Well maintained and good layout...I would go back and play here again

I’m not sure if I would recomendé it to a friend. Space time is not good. The fairways side needs to be trim up, grass is to thick, hard to find balls.. staff needs to be more friendly.

If you go in for a round of golf between 10am-12pm you will be walking. That is a guarantee. My group was told that we could not have carts to ride in at 11:40. I asked if we could wait a 5-10 minutes until one is ready and I was rudely told "its not possible, the carts need two hours to charge". As we started to tee off on the second hole approximately 10 minutes later people were receiving carts to ride in. Further more due to the group behind us having carts and us walking we constantly had people waiting for us to finish, making us feel rushed.

Not narrow - you won’t spend all day looking for balls, which is nice. The course does have some length to it so you still need to strike it well. Greens are a bit spongy and longer than usual right now, maybe short on maintenance staff due to the pandemic. Overall good course, usually play in around 4 to 4.5 hrs.
