Black Creek Golf Club
About
Black Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole, championship course that is conveniently situated less than an hour from Savannah. The course sprawls across acres of rolling countryside, surrounded by nothing but lush meadows and hills, providing the round with peaceful seclusion. The layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels and the blue tees are enough of a challenge for more advanced players. The front nine has a wide-open links-style layout that provides an interesting contrast to the back nine, which is characterized by tree-lined, narrow fairways. The greens are large and undulating and sometimes framed with strategically placed bunkers. The golf course winds through scenic coastal marshes and wetlands, which come into play on 13 holes. There is even an island green on Black Creek Golf Club's signature hole, the par-3 15th.

Don’t mow for a month
I’ve played this course in the fall and it’s not bad, early spring not bad but today it was a bear to play and I watched other groups as we waited in several spots so it wasn’t just us. Over the last month I’ve played two courses in Bluffton SC, Crosswinds par 3 last weekend and today my son in law and I played black creek.
The reason I brought up playing the last three courses this morning is because of fairway and green conditions, at all three when the ball landed the grass was tall enough that you had a good lie to play off of. Today at black creek through the whole course is was like playing on a parking lot.
Sure you got good ball roll, but trying to play your next fairway shot was really rough. My suggestion is let the grass grow a quarter inch to a half inch thick, that way you can actually get under the ball. The greens also VERY short and crazy fast, good luck getting a chip to stick no matter how good the chip was that ball just kept rolling and rolling. I watched several groups struggle trying to land normally easy pitch shots, many were adding two to three extra shots per hole because the ball would just roll right off the other side.
With summer coming and hot humid temperatures and lack or rain it’s only going to get faster. I’ll come back in the fall hopefully it won’t be so fast it’s almost unplayable.
Good course though but comparing to other area courses at this time of year just cut the mowing back some leave us some lies.
Greens are nice and fast
Considering this course was completely under water about a month ago it's in excellent condition.
Greens are nice and fast, fairways are coming in, and you can see multiple places the staff has placed sod to fill in areas damaged by the flooding.
Nice day and a good round
Course is in good shape in spite of all the rain over the past month. Everything was well mowed. Staff friendly. Not many players out because of the virus, but a nice sunny day and fun round.
Great Value
The greens are in great condition. Some of the tee boxes are looking thin and unkept but overall the course is in good shape. I love the layout. It is not a cookie cutter course.
Greens are great!
While the course and the cart paths need some attention, the greens were in great shape. They were hard and fast. For the money, this is a great course. It is a bit short but a fun layout.
Problems, problems!
Arrived early for a scheduled 11 a.m. tee time only to be told the course was "out of carts" due to a tournament. Apparently, the tournament went off at 7:30 a.m. -- and somehow the head pro (who was out PLAYING GOLF and not available to handle issues!) thought they would be done by 11. To compound the error, someone ran off with the key to the last remaining cart. The counter clerk did his best to help us, and his manager eventually produced her personal cart key (which had to be retrieved from her home). My group finally got a cart at 11:49 a.m.
The course was not in good shape. The greens were hard and fast -- great for good players who might be hitting wedges into them but not so good for amateurs who must hit longer clubs that cannot hold the greens.
With a little work and some common-sense management, this could be a good place to play, but until then, not so much.
Black Creek
Course was in great shape. It is a very interesting and fun layout and still challenging. Great value as well!
greens
I enjoy their course but I only have concerns 1) sand traps looked like they brought in dirt instead of sand. Every trap I saw had tire marks inside them. 2) the greens were hard and at times they were fast and other times they were slow, no consistency.
Good conditions considering recent rains
Course was very playable considering the amount of surrounding flood waters. Fairways, greens and tee boxes were all in good shape for winter conditions. There were a few fairway wet spots but easily avoidable. We’ll be back. This is a fun but challenging course.
Nice round
I enjoyed my round today even though it had rained day before. The greens are in good shape and the fairways are in decent shape. I was pleased with the shape of the course even though there was some standing water. Some traps were full of water but that’s not surprising with the rain we’ve had.
I do wish players would repair their ball marks. It infuriates me to see ball marks on the green. When a course tries to do its best to give you smooth, weed free greens- FIX YOUR BALL MARKS.
WET
Fun this play sand traps need work. Course needs to drain better in places just needs to dry up.@
Course play.
Forgiving course with some water hazards.
Bunkers need sand and taking.
Restaurant food is excellent.
