Alta Sierra Country Club

Fun course. We played the silver as we had never played there before and it was a little short for us. Overall really enjoyed the course.

This is one of my favorite courses in the area. Beautiful layout, well kept, staff friendliness, and now with new carts, makes this course a real gem.

Came here to play from Graeagle cuz the Reno courses were also snowed in and frozen.

I like this little course. Lots of fun holes, good greens, interesting layout, makes you think and execute good shots. Unfortunately, I didn’t do that, but, when you’ve got the golf but AND cabin fever at the same time, your just happy to be out there playing!! New carts are nice, too.

I normally really enjoy playing golf at Alta Sierra. I usually look forward to my rounds there and really like the course and staff.

Unfortunately my last round the day after thanksgiving was a completely different experience and has me questioning going back.

The course was in similar condition to previous rounds. And that is not my complaint.

My complaint is with the pace of play and the marshal. It was a horrendously slow, over 5 hour round. I walked the course (as not many do there) and had to wait on the incredibly slow group in front of us on Every, Single, Shot. The course Marshal/player assistant drove by us each time, asking if the pace of play was poor. And each time I explained how slow and terrible the pace was that day. What was disappointing was that each time I informed the marshal about the slow play of the group in front of us, he said it was backed up in front of that group. I wasn't able to see ahead of us until the back nine, at that point it was clear that there was no one holding up the group in front of us, that it was just them playing slowly. The marshal passed us 3 times on the back and I complained each time and he did nothing about it. It was so frustrating.

Debating just giving up on playing at Alta Sierra, even thought it has always been a favorite. I think maybe I will give them another chance. But I don't know.

Good test of golf. Greens rolled great. Hidden gem.

Very cold,, but had the course to ourselves. The employee in the pro shop saved my wife with a beannie ! we were so grateful !

Had a great day at Alta Sierra. To start with, we had the golf Moose discount of 2 players for $65.00. Weather was perfect and the course was in great shape. Pace of play was not a problem. Ended the day with a couple of pitchers of cold beer.

The course is challenging with ample fairways, but with difficult fringe areas. While reading the course for the most part is pretty straight forward, there are real danger areas due to side opes, trees and other obstructions. I tend to play mid to late morning or early afternoon. The golf course is rarely stacked up with golfers during these time periods. Golf Moose and TeeOff have discounts that make playing the course more affordable. There are good lunches and a full bar to enhance your experience. It's also a great course to come and play when Valley courses are fogged in. Alta Sierra is above the figure in the winter.

Course needs some maintenance. Fairways, tee boxes were ragged and grass around the greens was too long.

This was our 1st Camp & play golf course with our Harvest Host membership. Alta Sierra's staff went above & beyond making us feel welcome. From the staff in the pro shop, the maintenance crew (ART) to staff in the snack bar everyone made us feel welcome. We played in the afternoon; weather was perfect & we camped in our RV overnight in the parking lot & used the practice facility before leaving in the afternoon. Again, thank you Alta Sierra, we will return.
