About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Must maintain pace of play
Wonderful course and amenities. Greens were punched but very playable. Rest of course immaculate - rough is punishing.
Had to quit after 2.5 hour front 9. Drove in to find that slow foursome in front of us were 4 holes behind.
No Marshall. Great active Cart GPS that was not set up to maintain pace of play.
Love the course, but the tourists here make the pace of play a regular issue.
Greens aerated recently and not noted
Course could ordinarily be good, but greens were aerated this month and not well taken care of. That would be ok, but we paid $70+ and it was not noted when we booked (the day prior). Price should have been discounted and recent aeration should have been listed as other courses do
Woodlands
Once a grand golf course, now, the greens are about gone the overall maintenance is being ignored, bunker washed out (#2)weeds abound throughout It looks like a course that has been sold and no one is puttin any money into it. It is a shell of its former self. Honestly, after seeing it today I would not play it if it was free I am so sad to have to write this

No alert about aerification!
We played at Woodlands course on 9/7/22 and when we made a reservation on GolfNow, there was no alert or notification to warn us that the course just had an aerification on all greens. Check in person in pro shop didn't even mention when we got there and we found out when we reached our first green. Aerification holes were rather big and no sands were on greens so all greens were bumpy and it was hard to make putts. There was no purpose of reading greens because balls were bouncing off to all directions. I wouldn't play here until late September.

Disappointing greens for the price
Great course, but I was let down by the condition of the greens. Many of them had black patches.

Greens need help
Last month everything was perfect. Yesterday, the greens need some serious help. Fungus... The pace would have been great but the couple in front of me just were way to slow and they didn't understand golf etiquette. Let me play through. And please fix your ball marks on the greens people.

Great layout! Well maintained tee boxes and fairways. Greens were rough. Might be due to rain and players not fixing ball marks but it was impossible to get a true roll. For a golf course that charges over $100 for morning tee times, would have expected a bit better green condition. Other than the greens, the course was beautiful. If they can get the greens rolling true, I could understand paying north or $100. Overall would give 7.9/10.

Bad Green with Fungus - Woodlands Course
Many greens at Woodlands course have Fungus growing on them with wet and bald spots., which makes them hard to putt on. I brought up this issue to the club house after the round and they said, its just hot out there, which causes the Bentgrass to burn, so they water it often. That's not an excuse as several other courses have similar grass, but not the same issue. Instead of club house apologizing for these green conditions, these said.. play our other course (Chateau), to which I said, I'm NOT coming back to play here anytime soon.

Poor Greens
Overall a good course, but overpriced for sure. I usually really enjoy Château, but the greens are starting to look like Collins Hill. Fungus has taken over and for $130, not what you would expect. The fairways and tee boxes are great and the staff was great. Really need to get some fans on those greens. It’s a shame that they have gone down hill.

Play the Chateau course instead
The greens were all pitch marked and in bad condition. The chateau course had better greens and is more fun

Not worth the money
Slow pace of play was beyond acceptable
Crews working had no regard for players
Decent fairways but tons of bare areas with roots, rocks and wash outs
Cart pats filled with pot holes and roots pushing up. Very bumpy.
Lots of other places to play close by for less with better conditions

A very bad experience, won’t be back
We started off with range tokens but there were no range balls. We played the first 7 holes with a sand trap maintenance crew as part of our group. Every fairway and green with a gas powered trap groomer. And another gas cart. They did not stop when we hit, putt or asked them to. We called the pro shop and they stopped them for a few holes then they rejoined our group for 5 more holes. It was very disturbing with the gas machine next to you for more than half the round. The pace of ply was totally unacceptable. I have never called a pro shop from the course, but today, we called twice. They said they would “ message” their cart but did not get any better. No. On course Marshal so we had a 5 hour and 45 minute round. Pretty miserable.
The woodlands course.. fairways are nice, the tee boxes were soggy from a morning rain. The areas around the fairways are poorly maintained with lots of dirt, gravel, roots and bare areas, etc.
We we checked in we were told they had one beverage cart for two courses, we never sw a beverage cart and there is no return to the clubhouse. A very hot day with no services.
A lot of money for not much in amenities

I hate customer care here
I played at woodland,, but it was raining on 8th hall,,
So we waited for 20min,, so we call proshop and asked we could get raincheck?? He answered yes come to proshop,, so we stopped waiting and went to the proshop,, but he said I couldn't get raincheck because I booked by golfnow,, and also golfnow doesn't do anything for us,,,,, anyway it was terrible experience,,,,,,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced at the course. As far as the raincheck goes, sounds like you prepaid for a Hot Deal on GolfNow. When this is the case, no money is paid to the pro-shop so there is no money that is owed back from the course. You may have booked other course times through GolfNow and that is why you were able to obtain a raincheck. If you call GolfNow, they would be happy to rectify the situation. We hope this clears any confusion up and we hope you give us another try in the future.
