Collins Hills Golf Club is a little known course to outsiders, but it is a local favorite. The traditional parkland layout tumbles across a rolling terrain. The golf course features small, undulating greens and narrows fairways bordered by towering trees. The layout demands accuracy especially with the numerous sand bunkers that have been incorporated into the design. Several ponds and lakes are scattered across the course, coming into play on seven holes. The layout has its challenges but it is still gentle enough to accommodate a variety of different skill levels. Before playing, golfers can warm up on the driving range or utilize the other practice facilities. Collins Hills Golf Club's atmosphere definitely plays a role in the club's popularity, offering all of the amenities of a private club with a casual and friendly setting

Practice course

I have played here a bunch and before the order of play changed. That was for the best but that’s about it. There are so many scars on the course that need attention. A good time to play. No balls lost due to leaves in the fairway. Played it as a single in two hours 45 minutes. I would self local rule to move ball to closest grass. Greens too!

Greens Horrible

I have played this course many times but have never seeen the greens so bad. I think they have just stopped maintaining the greens period. It's such a shame as I used to enjoy playing this course. I played with father and son pair from Atlanta and they said they will never come back. Gwinnett county government needs to do better as I understand they own the course.

Unless you are a local 20+ handicap…

…don’t go here. Nice layout, a little tight however it’s short for long irons off the tee, especially on the back. Greens were cut with a regular mover, they were really bad. Not worth $60 by a long shot. Golf course can do better.

Seriously??

Where do the positive reviews come from? This course is worse than bad. Bring a hammer for the tee boxes. Bring a chain saw for the fallen trees. Bring a lawnmower and grass for the greens. No need for lawnmowers on the fairways.

Progressively Worse

I keep giving this course a chance a couple times a year hoping their increased fees will go towards improving the conditions. Don't ask me how but it's actually gotten progressively worse. The greens are absolutely horrendous - almost unplayable. If they were skin, it would seem they all have the shingles virus. And not just one or two - they're all that bad. Tree roots in the fairways, fallen trees that haven't been cleared, and the worst cart paths anywhere. Book your chiropractor appointment in advance. The only redeeming factors of this course is they have a chipping / bunker practice area, putting green, and driving range. But $8 for a small bucket - seriously? The staff is very nice almost as if they know they have to kill you with kindness to make up for the course conditions. I thought Pine Hills in Winder was bad but it's in better shape than Collins Hill - for half the price! Will only book here again as a last resort.

Tough round

Played here a few times in last 8 months and it just keeps getting worse. Fairways and rough have a lotta wash out, either sandy areas on fairways or go into rough and your hitting off gravel and rocks. Greens look like cow skin pattern half sand and rough surface. Ball bounce all the way to the hole, out of 18 maybe 3 fair greens to put on .. needs some serious love!! Only positive finally new carts, last time we played need to get cart swapped out mid round as it stalled out !

Rough course conditions

Greens were patchy and overgrown. Tee boxes in bad shape. Several fairways had washout areas.

Good everyday-type course.

Course is hilly with a number of water features and side hill slopes that cannot be seen from tee box (and sometimes from 2nd shots). Thus distance and placement of shots are sometimes guesswork. You need to play the course a few times to learn where to hit and how far to hit.

Close Course

I play here because it’s close and pace of play in the morning is fast. Is it worth the money? I’d say no… I can play better courses for $5 if not the same price.

Bad course conditions

Overall, the layout of the course is challenging, but the course itself is in terrible condition. The cart paths are all cracked, bumpy, and almost undrivable, and almost every Greene on the course has no grass on it at all. The greens are completely bald patchy and unplayable the greens that weren’t patchy almost felt like putting on fairways.

Horrible Conditions

The conditions were much better in the summer. Tee boxes and greens are awful. Price should not exceed 30 dollars for 18. Pace of play was also pretty bad, I saw 6 carts on one tee box at one point.

4/29/26 - I have played at this course a good amount of times and I like coming here to practice since I'm still a beginner. I was quite disappointed with the condition of the greens as it was very rough. It's quite bumpy and uneven. Besides that the course itself was alright.

I view this course as a good value kind of course and don't expect premium conditions like Chateau Elan or Lanier Islands. However, I do hope they can make the greens a bit smoother. I remember it used to be like much better than what it is now.

Collins Hill Golf Course Play

Nice course for everyday type play. Greens had been sanded and apparently aerated recently so putting was guesswork. Course is hilly with lateral slopes. It is sometimes difficult to see to where your ball will land, where cross course water is and to determine if it will roll down to side of or off fairway. This was the first time I played the course and that made it a little difficult to line up my shots.

Note: The course was a little difficult to get to even using GPS.
