Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
About
Chicopee Woods Golf Course is a public, 27-hole layout in Gainesville. The course is tucked amongst the Appalachian foothills, giving it a scenic terrain of rolling hills. The holes are divided into three nines: the Village, the Mill, and the School, that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. Five sets of tees provide even more variety. The Village nine is the longest of the three and it's also the driest. There is only a small lake beside the second hole. That doesn't mean the golf course isn't challenging though, you'll still face several strategically placed bunkers. There are a few scattered trees but the course is mostly open and offers some room for error. In addition to the 27 holes, Chicopee Woods G.C. also has a driving range and chipping and putting greens.

Great course but slow
I have played here many times and it is a great course, wonderful staff, and always in great shape. However lately it seems that pace of play has gotten terribly slow. Yes, it was CPO yesterday but that shouldn’t make the round go 5:45!! We didn’t see rangers trying to speed up the slow groups, but that may or may not have helped. Last two rounds here were similar in this aspect. Will I play there again? Absolutely.
Better than I remembered
I first played Chicopee Woods in the early 2000’s and remembered enjoying it but not much else. Fast forward 20 years and wow have things changed. This course was immaculate. Super healthy turf cut with precision. Gorgeous white sand bunkers reminiscent of Augusta National! Tour caliber greens. Plenty of restrooms, hydration facilities, and replacement sand/seed containers for your cart, The carts have everything, gps system, cooler, ball and club cleaners. I was pleasantly surprised by the attention to details and the quality of this facility. 10 out of 10!
One of the best public access courses!
While I’ve played chicopee several times in the past, this was the first time I’ve played in the past two years. The course is impeccably maintained beautiful fairways well maintained greens and tee boxes. Cart paths are immaculate as well. This is also one of the best managed courses I have played in the metro Atlanta area.
Great course
One of the best public, if not the best, courses that I’ve played. The course is well maintained, staff friendly with top notch facilities.
Beautiful Public Course
The Superintendent / Greenskeeper really knows his business. The conditions are excellent. And the cart paths are in good shape!
The pace of play can require a bit of patience sometimes. But overall it’s a great experience.
Rangers do Nothing
If the rangers actually did anything to speed up play, the experience would be 5 stars. I have players here over 100 times in the last 10 years, I have never experienced any sort of effort from the rangers to speed up play. I am not sure why they are even out there.
