BridgeMill Athletic Club
About
Bridgemill Athletic Club in Canton has a varied landscape that provides an interesting mix of holes ranging from flat and wide open to undulating and tree-lined. The layout isn't characterized by a specific feature but instead lets the lush, rolling terrain remain the focus. The well balanced golf course features numerous sand bunkers strategically placed throughout and water hazards also come into play on a few holes. The distinct 16th hole with its island green is known throughout Atlanta. This par 3 appears intimidating but it is more playable than it looks. Players of all skill levels stand a good shot at reaching the green. In addition to the golf course, Bridgemill Athletic Club offers a driving range and short game area as well as 25 tennis courts and a two-acre aquatic center.

Overpriced, Poor Greens
We were really looking forward to playing this course for the first time, especially the island green. We were immediately greeted with greens in awful shape. Lots of dark spots and bumpy terrain. Food & drinks were great. **The island green looks nothing like the photo and never has, apparently, according to the members we played with.** They have only 1 entry gate onto fairways and 1 exit gate back onto the cart path. I’ve never been on a course that discourages the use of the cart path entirely.
Poor Golf Condition and Needs Significant Maintenance
We have played here several times a year and this is the first time this year and the course condition has gone miserably and drastically down hill.
The course was full of weeds, crabgrass, and dead areas.
The rough looked terrible with areas overgrown with weeds and some areas bear with no grass.
The greens were in terrible condition full of fungus spots, dead areas, and practically un puttable.
Even just under trees and tree beds were full of branches, weeds 3 to 4 feet tall, etc.
It looked like no one cares and no investment at all.
They added stairs to tee boxes that were unnecessary but then did nothing on the tee boxes to help the golfer and improve drainage.
If you remember the old Trophy Club of Alpharetta, it looks and plays like that before they sold it.
DEFINITELY NOT WORK $100 TO PLAY. MORE LIKE $45.
Some maintenance and care is needed to bring it back to normal.
Rough shape
I’ve only heard good things about this course in the past. First time playing it this weekend and was very surprised at the conditions of it. Some of the worst greens I’ve seen in quite a long time. Tee boxes, drop zones, bunkers, and 17/18 greens were in really bad shape. They have no business charging $115 a person for a 1130am Sunday tee time with the way things are at out there. Will not be back at this price point.
Awful
Wow. Bridgemill has completely lost their greens. Conditions overall are abysmal. Spoke with a guy who’s been a member there for 15 years and he said the course is the worst he’s ever seen. From tee boxes to greens these are some of the worst conditions I’ve seen in metro Atlanta. It’s honestly quite embarrassing for a course charging over $100 for tee times. How they continue to stay in business is shocking. It looks like the whole place is being ran by kids in their early 20s.
OVERALL NOT TOO BAD... GREENS NEED DEPSERATE ATTENTION. PUTTING THROUGH CRATERS IS NOT FUN.
Greens are in bad shape, especially front 9
Disappointed.. fungus problems severely affected 7 of 9 greens on front 9. Bumpy patches all over.
Some tee boxes were baked.
Otherwise, course was very lush and green due to lots of rain this summer.
Hope they get it under control, because this is a good layout.
Much better metro Atlanta courses at this price
For a course that is $70 during the week, laughably overpriced. Sandy, bumpy greens with unfixed divots. Fairways and tee boxes are quality, except the one par 5 in which the tee boxes were moved to 200 yards away. Zero mention of that at the club house. Sad because you can see how this course could be worth the price, but doesn’t look like it has been for a while now. Ornery staff working at a subpar country club.
I would like to start this review by saying that I wanted to like this place so much. The folks in the clubhouse were nice, the starter was nice, the range was nice, the course was in good shape other than the 16th, the signature hole. I gave 3 stars because of these facts.
This 16th hole is pictured on Golf Now, on their website and even on the brochure that sells memberships. It is beautiful in the picture with its church pew strips in the middle of two sand traps on an island green. These church pews do not exist. Now there are 3 traps with hard sand and two pipes sticking out of them from what I imagine was the irrigation for the pews. The water surrounding the hole was very low. The whole image that is supposed to be beautiful looks more like an abandoned amusement park ride.
The real kicker for me and the reason I unfortunately will not go back there is because a grounds keeper on the par 5 13th ran over my ball with a giant lawn mower. I had hit my 2nd shot onto the fairway and it trickled down the depression on the left side of the fairway in front of the green. I watch him not pay attention to us at all before our shots and then watched him roll over the area my ball was in as we drove up to it. He never stopped mowing as I looked for my ball. I then found it sliced in half. I waved him down, showed him the ball and said, "you ran over my ball." He shrugged and said, "I didn't do that." Then he revved up the mower and drove away.
All I wanted was recognition and maybe an apology and even a laugh about it. After his response I was furious.
This place loos like it was once great, but now it seems kinda sad to me. I hope they can do better in the future. We need more good, affordable golf courses and nice people.
Bridgemill
Overall the course was in great shape, especially for how hot / dry it's been in Atlanta for the last 2 weeks. Also, the course was packed, but the pace was really good, and we had a really good round. Greens were a lot faster than a lot of the other courses that I play, but it added a degree of difficulty that I'm not used to, so it kept me focused.
Solid greens
The course has a fantastic layout and tough greens. Get into a bunker and you’ll wish you hadn’t. They are clay pits, very hard no fluff and impossible to hit out of
