Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Royal/Indian
About
This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.
You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.
Each of the nines carries its own personality. The Indian nine is the longest, with the most straight-forward holes. The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

Not Terrible But Should Be Better
We've played here a few times from last summer up to last week. There are three 9 hole courses, and the layout is actually pretty good with some nice holes and long par 3's. But the overall maintenance and upkeep is always lacking - fairways and tee boxes are not great but the greens are hard and very fast. Sneaky water on a few holes that you don't see from the tee is both challenging and frustrating! Our cart has run out of juice two times now which is simply not acceptable, but overall a decent value considering price and availability of tee times.
Course Management has really gone down hill.
This used to be our go to course. Even played here 3 times this month. Will not be back until major changes are made. Golf carts are not lasting a round. Saw staff towing carts out to stranded groups 3 times in 9 holes! Tee boxes are not being mowed, fairways are like concrete to hit off of. Had to wait past tee time for a cart to be charged and cleaned.
NOT SURE WHO IS MANAGING THIS COURSE AND MAKING CHEAP FINANCIAL DECISIONS IE: BUYING CHEAP BATTERIES FOR CARTS BUT YOU ARE DRIVING THIS COURSE IN THE GROUND! I was told at the gate that I couldn’t turn into the entrance coming from the south that I had to pass it, do a U turn and come back from the North! Are you kidding me?! Who is running this place?
Not great
This course is very rustic. The fairways were not well maintained. Shrapnel everywhere. Tee boxes were lumpy and bumpy and the greens were not smooth. The cup holes were rounded, not crisp and sharp. Disappointing.
Nice little courses needs some maintenance
Nice options, greens where fast and true, could use some maintenance. Tee boxes had not been cut in over a week and where the same length as the fairways could use some tlc all over
I would recommend this to anybody
When we asked for range balls they gave us at the clubhouse bowls in a plastic bag! I knew you were off to a bad start. Driving range was horrible! Front nine was so so in shape greens were very fast! Peoples carts were dying in the middle of the fairway! The back nine was the worst course I’ve ever played in my entire life sand traps didn’t have sand anymore they were hard as rock! I would give it a two rating!!!
Among the worse courses we’ve ever played played anywhere
Bad Condition , but
It’s unfortunate that this 27 hole layout is suffering. Over the past few years it’s has fallen into disrepair. It’s okay to play it and save a few bucks compared to a more established nicer course, but it needs help.
On the other hand, maybe if more people play there, then a sufficient revenue stream would help them out more.
Don’t book here!!
Greens were good, fairways so so, everything else was horrible. I’m surprised this course was even listed. A staff member confirmed that they purchased cheap batteries for the carts, 1/2 of the carts only lasted about 12 holes. We paid $20 higher booking through golf now then if we booked directly. 1.5” of grass on the tee boxes, course is narrower and short. Carts are super old, they need major investment before I return.
My Take
The 2 staff people I dealt with were please at. Even though the greens are cut different, the were fair and fast. The fairways and bunkers are above average. The tee boxes are terrible. Long grass and need to be mowed.
Indian Palms
We played the Royal and Indian courses. The Royal is well laid out and is in great shape. The Indian is not as nice, although the tee boxes and greens are good. Good value for the fee charged. Not too busy so we enjoyed our round at a relaxing pace.
I enjoy Indian Palms because it fits my eye. Even though the condition of the tees and fairways is so-so, the greens are fine. My only real complaint is the way the club sends off groups. Yesterday, my group was assigned Royal to Mountain. When we finished Royal and went to Mountain, there were two groups waiting ahead of us who were just starting. Our four round turned into a nearly five-hour round. The club must refrain from sending new groups off a particular nine until the earlier groups have started their back nine.
