Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Royal/Indian
About
This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.
You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.
Each of the nines carries its own personality. The Indian nine is the longest, with the most straight-forward holes. The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

Course was nice and greens were good.
Staff was rude at main desk, and lunch lady was
3hrs late literally with our lunch and it was
still wrong! We ordered turkey sand and 19 holes later
a ham sandwich arrived.
Staff in pro shop were very welcoming!
Do not play this course
The course was the worst golf course I have ever played.if we didn’t have our wife’s drop us off we would have left. We played the mountain 9 first there was no green grass anywhere, we played the Indian 9 next hoping it would be better but it was just as bad. I can’t believe golf now would even have this course on their website.
Slow pace and poor conditions
I'm not sure why I keep going back every few years. Call me a glutton for punishment. The greens were fried and hard (in fall!), the fairways brown and dry. Multiple muddy spots on every hole. General disrepair. Country club lets members go out in twosomes whenever, waited on every hole, was hit into from frustrated folks behind us. Do yourself a favor and spend $20 more to go to a decent course.
Rough condition
The course needs some work, grass is nonexistent in many places, bunkers in poor condition but it was playable. The greens were fast and a little bumpy but putt able. If you want premiere conditions this is not the course for you. If you want to drive the ball, hit from tight lies and practice your putting this course works. All of our golf carts worked fine and made it through 18 holes.
Better than expected
Yet another instance where the majority of reviews are way too harsh and it’s not fair to this course and its management who are clearly putting money into maintenance/renovations. When I checked in the manager explained exactly what they’re doing to improve the course and what to expect in the meantime: Transparency goes a long way with me. There was a virtual army of workers out on the course: Serious effort is being made here. If you want A+ manicured grounds, sure, this isn’t the spot. If you’re not picky and/or on a budget, this is your course. Will definitely be back
Indian Palms
Course is in early reseeded condition. Fairway turf is almost nonexistent, greens are coming but still a little rough. Overall the course has been cleaned up and there is some evidence of upkeep.
Meredith Review
In our opinion, the course was in very poor shape (Indian/Mountain); not worth the money. Perhaps after they reseed & put some money into watering, tee boxes and bunkers, it might be ok.
So much potential
If I we’re a resident here, I would ask for the financials on course management cost. It just doesn’t make sense as to the condition of this course. I can understand to keep it dormant for winter but there are things like the cart paths haven’t been edged in a long time with 6 to 10 inches of overgrowth. I get these are weird times and hope nothing but good for this community.
Could be better maintained. Good corse for an intermediate player, not overly challenging..
course
the grass is in great shape but it is dead and white. The course sadly needs overseeding and lots of water
Indian palms
The course was pretty good for the price we paid, and was close to where we were staying.
Sad
Are used to play this course quite a bit 510 years ago went back very disappointed in the maintenance is not even in existence the key box were terrible on the roof was very very long and not cut in months pins have not been changed on one of the courses for months went through three golf carts on front nine because a battery age issues
Rough around the edges
Sadly the course is very rough around the edges in terms of condition. I really enjoy the challenge and the layout. Bottom line, “Ill be back”
Terrible condition
I don't know how this course gets worse every year. I only play Indian Palms if I find a deal on a discount golf website. The green on Mountain 2 has holes in it like a gopher started digging...the flags get moved every 4 or 5 day. The flags are seldom in straight. The rough is sometimes cut, and when it is, the deep cut grass is left on the course.
The first 3 holes on Indian had just been scalped for reseeding, then it appears to have been opened again. So, you're not playing on grass fairway....you're playing on dirt!
Pace of play was great, because there wasn't many people playing.
