Cherokee Run Golf Club
About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Nice and Challenging
Second time here and had a blast. Hour from ATL on way to Augusta or Reynolds Plantation. Very challenging holes. Easier the second time around though as there are some tricky holes. Layout is very cool and seculded, no houses. Clubhouse and staff are tops. FREE buffet lunch was incredible. Will come backm if in the area.
Great course
This course will test your game at all levels it is in the best shape of any course in a 50 mile radius private or public.
Good golf value
First time and only played the front nine. Tricky layout for first time players. A number of blind shots. Generally early spring conditions but the greens were in good condition.
Great course
Always a pleasure to play a course in this great of shape.I am always looking forward to coming back greens are some of the best around.
Great layout!
Challenging and fun! I recommend this course if you haven’t played it
Off the beaten path
If you like a hilly course, blind shots and fast greens this is a course you must play. For winter time the course is ok condition. A ranger would have been useful given a 4 1/2 round.
Beautiful Course
Great course. It's a thinking course lay up or go for it. The gps cart makes it easy to play fast. It was a raining day and the greens were fast ouch!! I'll be back
Tough greens
Greens were very fast even a day after flooding rains. Was winter so all collar grass dead or gone so with very slick greens you could breath on the ball and it would roll 20 yards off some greens. Still had a great time.
Greens Fast - Pin Placements Were Insane!
Rains a day earlier forced cart-only the entire round. Carts disable forward movement when you attempt it!
Course layout is truly fun, local knowledge will help 1st timers score better. This is a LONG course from the tips, and there are some incredible holes along the round. Several sweet, elevation changes challenge Your Club selection too, so make sure you’re confident with your distances.
Cherokee Run does not disappoint, so bring your “A” game!
Overall great track
The practice facility’s are better than 9/10 public courses anywhere you go. You can tell they take pride in that.
Greens- always roll great but with public play they tend to get beat up from ball marks and the infamous dragging of feet.
I don’t think anyone could ever say anything bad about their zoysia fairways. Tee to green the place is great and always free of debris. Other than the tree on the back 9 par 3 that’s been down for 6 months+.
Bunkers need better drainage in my opinion. It has caused the washout of sand in a few bunkers. Hard to gauge how much sand you have underneath the ball.
Clubhouse is very nice and staff is very friendly. I always enjoy coming here to play.
Challenging uneven lies and great greens
Well maintained. Worth the drive from Atlanta. Great greens but slopes can be tough. Fairways have some tough sloped lies but mostly it's fair. You need a draw if you want to score. Tee boxes suffering a bit from winter but most are level. Can get busy at peak times. Great zoysia fairways were dormant but they're still better than most other courses (bermuda) during winter.
Always enjoy playing here
Played on a very cold day with the course basically to ourselves. Had a blast. The greens were in excellent shape for this time of year. This course is a fair drive from home and we play here specifically for the greens - they did not disappoint. Quick and the ball rolls true which makes for a fun and challenging experience. Course has holes for every handicap - some tough, some easier and some with risk/reward. Really enjoy playing here. Staff was great - we lost a personal item somewhere on the course and they called us straight away when it was turned in by a single player a short while later. Thank you!
