Cherokee Run Golf Club
About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Beautiful and enjoyable course just outside of Atlanta.
What a terrific and scenic 18 holes, with excellent shot values and very nice greens. The granite outcroppings and hunkering added to the visual beauty. All in all, a wonderful golf outing in a lovely natural setting....one of my favorite Palmer/Seay layouts.
Good course
Well maintain, nice fairways, soft green, will definitely play it again soon
Yep it's an Arnold Palmer course
Strategic play needed! Use the GPS and enjoy the trek - it's a good one.
Nice course. Didn’t like the fact they had a full outing going out 5 mins before my tee time. Took over 5 hours to play. Nothing was said about the outing when I booked.
Perfect Day - Great Course
Perfect fall day for golf. The course was in excellent condition from tee to green! Enjoyed getting paired up with big Dave and Kent. We had a great time and I love the layout of this course. Will keep coming back!!
Best bang for the buck
This is about as far as your money can stretch on a round of golf, very good bang for the buck.
Fantastic Course
Excellent course from the layout to the Zoysia fairways. Probably one of the best public courses in the southeast!
Challenging greens!
Fourth time playing here and the course has always been in very good shape. Staff has really been friendly and accommodating. The greens are great and have always been challenging for me but I'm getting better.
Great and tough.
This course is amazing. Tee boxes nice and flat. Fairways beautiful short cut tight lies, zero weeds to be found in a fairway. Looking on-line I thought fairways were going to be tighter than actually played. This was my first time here and lucky linked up with a group that showed me the way and what to avoid. The roughs were short enough that it didn't make it impossible to find a ball. Greens are fast and breaks are where they should be. Cart GPS is a bonus. I will go back when I have a reason to go to Atlanta. Speed of play was on point. Defiantly snapped a bunch of photos the scenery is awesome. I was leery of playing here being a beginner and golfing less than a year but sure glad I did.
This course is in great shape
The greens are the best I have seen (tift Bermuda). I would put them up against Country Club of the South.
The zoysia fairways are excellent. The only one negative to the course is that the sand, although very playable, is not consistent throughout the course. One bunker is soft white beach sand and another may be the more hard course brown sand. You can play both well enough just have to change style of play.
Great course....friendly staff!
All that you would expect from an Arnold Palmer designed course. Excellent conditions! Pace of play a bit slow due to cart path only on this day.
Another great day at Cherokee Run
I've played this course several times this year and it hasn't disappointed yet. A very good value for a course this nice. Fairways, greens and rough are all in very good shape. My only criticism of the actual course is the bunkers. My playing partner and myself both had the opportunity to play from the bunkers and we both had issues with little to no real sand in them. Hard compacted dirt under a thin layer of dirt. The real headache was the pace of play. 5 hour round with no course personnel to speed things along. I will be back even so.
One of the best layouts
The Run is in perfect shape, zoysia fairways like carpet and greens running true and fast; best to not have any putts above the hole! Great layout that lets you grip it and rip it on some holes while other holes will make you play target golf and check down to irons off of tees. This course will punish you for bad shots and can play very difficult -- I believe that would be the only complaint that folks would have is that a difficult course can cause some slow play with higher handicappers. If you haven't played this course, it's worth the trip - the staff is always friendly and helpful as well.
Beautiful Again!
Haven't played here in about 15 years, but had heard for many years about the deterioration of the course conditions. Had company in town, thought we'd give it a try, and are we glad we did. The course was back in pristine condition; tee boxes, fairways & greens were excellent. My company and I really enjoyed playing Cherokee Run!
Palmer design is great; challenging course.
Love the layout/design. Bring your "A" game. Zoysia fairways are outstanding; like hitting off a carpet. Greens were in excellent condition and fast. Had a great day there.
Very nice course
This was my 5th time playing this course this year and as usual it was in very good condition. The fairways and greens were very good while the bunkering was in fair shape as some of them could definitely use some additional sand. Some of them were very thin and hard in the bottom. The greens were speedy without being unfair but some of the pin positions were extremely difficult. I would definitely recommend this course as a good value and a fun track.
