Great shape
The course is in excellent shape. When a lot of courses are a little patchy. The Oaks greens are nice and smooth. No weeds in the fairways and the bunkers have sand in them.
It was okay
This was an okay course. No markers for which hole so it's a little misguiding. But wasn't terrible.
Why drive all the way to Augusta?
Well-manicured course was in excellent shape- so much so that it was hard to find broken tees in the boxes Greens were carpet perfect- no blight, with few ball marks for the entire 18. My cart was newish Yamaha electric and functioned perfect.
The Clubhouse is full sized with a restaurant and the men's locker has a shower. The staff was gracious.
I was a guest and received no compensation to author this review.
Was a good day....
Always enjoy playing the Oaks.....Course is always in great shape.....
Great Course
I love this course. It's in great condition and challenges every skill level.
great course
Everything was good except the wind.
Great course
Friendly staff
Fun but tricky course
Awesome par 3's
Greens good, Fairways BAD!
Nice layout, holes all very different. While greens rolled nice, the fairways were DEAD and BROWN and rock hard. Needs lots of water.
Masters week money grab
After reading the review of this course, and learning that Bobby Jones designed the front 9, I thought it would be fitting to play there on our way to Augusta. The rates were doubled for "Masters week" which is kinda understandable for being an hour and a half from Augusta, until you see the course. After a tough winter and a recent downpour, the course was not in very good shape. Well, it would have been fine for normal rates but not at the price gouge they were participating in. We played at 5 courses during "masters week" and this was the most expensive and the worst shape. If I ever get the chance to attend the Masters again, I will not be playing the Oaks. Hampton Cove in Huntsville or the Bear Trace in Tennessee, blow this course away. The Oaks should take a page out of the Masters book and not gouge the patrons.
Don't play during Masters week
Great course but not for the fees paid. All costs are pumped up on Master's week and the packages they advertise have hidden extras, i.e. 2 for 1 pkg & cart fees. Paid $60, but then went back for the second "free" round and they hit you with a $25 per person for cart fee, unbelievable. They wouldn't do anything about that little surprise at the golf shop. We loved the course, but because they wouldn't make it right for us Minnesotan's we won't go back.
Gem hidden in Covington.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course for the first time. I can only imagine hoe fast the greens will play during the hot and humid summer days. Considering it was early April I thought they were in good shape and it's definitely a challenge.
The Oaks
The greens are in excellent shape. They roll true and are super fas already. The course is recovering from the frigid winter. This course is an easy course to walk!
The Oaks
Not the Oaks that I have grown fond of. The greens are not in the usual great fast condition. They need to get them back to that level
Smoooth easy enjoyable day.
I play The Oaks a lot. Course is great....the staff - not so much. Rude, short worded, arrogant. They seem to either not enjoy their job or annoyed that all these people keep showing up and bother them while they are watching TV.
Great course!
Such a friendly and great staff! Love the challenges the course offers but how it can be enjoyable for all skill levels! Love coming to this course anytime I am in Georgia!
Great value
Greens are in great shape and the staff is always friendly. Never a problem pairing up with other golfers. Best value in metro areaa.
Short but tough layout
The greens are what protects this course. Always in great shape I love these greens.
Larry
As a average golfer the course ws great. I've played the course several times over the years. The greens are great, the roughs unforegiving as they should be (people fix your ball marks on the greens) it was a great day of golf. Every golfer needs to be mindful of the next golfer to follow. You can't aford a caddy to fix and repair your mess, hope your house doesn't look like what people leave.
Really good course
First time playing The Oaks in almost two years. The greens are excellent. Very fast but roll true. The course was muddy due to the recent rain. Our foursome didn't wait at all on the front nine. The back nine was slow after #11. This is a really good course to play. Probably the best course in the Covington/Conyers area.
The Oaks
Friendly staff and pace of play was good in the morning. There is a definite rush in the afternoon and the starter seemed a bit overwhelmed and wasn't really paying attention.
Great features and smooth greens
I love the course because the greens are always in good shape and the course layout is challenging.
However we played there yesterday as a twosome behind an extremely slow foursome that would not let us go through even though we waited for them to tee off on holes #4 through #6. As a matter of fact one hollered that we had no rights as we drove around them.
