Always a good time at this course
Had a blast. Didn’t play well but that didn’t stop me from having a good time at this fun course.
Good course for value
St Mark's is one of the best public courses in North County for the value.
Great staff and fun course
I play in the morning on weekends and really enjoy the course, The fairways are still in winter conditions but each week they get better. The greens are fast and challenging. The staff in the entire facility are great and everyone is friendly. I am not a member, but they make me feel like one and that is why I keep going back.
Everything
Staff, clubhouse, restaurant and course were great!
There are a lot of houses on this course but fun
Very fun and challenging will play again. Pace of play was a little slow.
Great course layout
Would have given the course a 5 star rating if there were not homes along almost every hole. Also some fairways and greens were not in the best of conditions, but overall playable, tee to green.
Greens are bumpy and inconsistent
For me the pace of play and the roll and speed of green drives the choice of a course. I was part of a group and had not played this course in a while. So decided to give it a go. The greens looked very lush and even. For the novice, they may even pass off as "pretty good". In my view they were mediocre. The ball seems to skid rather than roll true. Plenty of bumps along the way on longer putts. Ball comes to a dead stop making it a sure 2 putt. Kikuyu grass around the green is another issue. Just grabs the ball making chipping quite frustrating.
Fun Course and very nice area
I have been playing St Mark's for about a month and a half now (weekends) and played 18 holes for the first time January 1rst. I went out with a couple local members and they could not have been nicer and shared course knowledge as we played which was very helpful. The course was not perfect but a lot better than most other courses in the area. that was only due to it being winter, so I knew what to expect. The other thing I noticed was how nice the staff was and I mean the entire staff from the pro-shop, cart guys and the restaurant, everyone was great and I could not say enough as to how nice they were. The experience was top notch!
Nice course
Greens were fast and nice. Fairways a little rough.
Slow pace
Fun course, slow play
I usually play in the morning to avoid slow play but at this course this doesn't help. 5 hour rounds. This could be solved with a Marshall but never see them. The course is a good value if you don't mind slow play.
Course is healing, fun course, very slow play
Fairways are being repaired but I think they are doing a good job repairing bare spots. At no point did I consder the fairway conditions as being a distraction. Greens in great shape, super fast but true and a good challenge. My biggest complaint was there was no marshall making sure people were keeping pace. Got stuck behind a foursome who were painfully slow with nobody telling them to speed up. 4 hours 40 minutes to play 18 holes was painful.
St. Marks
This was the second time we played. The front nine went very smoothly. When we got to the back nine, we were backed up. Some people had ate lunch and then continued. They let a single guy go ahead of them. While we were waiting another single guy came. We told him we were backed up, so he went around us and the other people and skipped the 10th tee. We only had to wait a couple of minutes on the back nine to tee off. The greens were in good condition. I even saw a worker whistling while he worked. He must love his job. It was an enjoyable afternoon. We played in 4 hours.
