Worst Experience Ever
This was the worse golf experience ever! The course was saturated with water and with "cart path only" in effect it was not a pleasant experience. Several holes had all four tee boxes on the fairway due to the wet conditions. The fairways had not been cut due to the conditions and the rough was worse. Accessing the fairway on some holes was difficult due to the presence of open streams of water and wet and soggy ground under foot. Even the slightly discounted price on golf now.com was not worth it. I hate to say it but "going shopping" with my wife would have been a more pleasant afternoon!
Avoid the Swamp!
Worst conditions I've experienced at any course played. Standing water all over the course; hard to find a dry lie. Walking from cart paths to ball an adventure; water almost up to ankles in "many" places. Golf course should be closed until the drainage is solved. I will not return for a very long time. Spend your money more wisely elsewhere.
course almost unplayable
Paid 39.00 for a 1:16 tee time on Sunday. course was cart path only due to rains which was totally fine. However no mention of the course conditions by staff. Most fairways not only had standing water on them but many had nothing less then rivers flowing through them. They actually used old pallets as a bridge to get to one fairway (was very unsafe). St. Marks has made a lot of progress lately but this is a set back. Should of a least been a reduced rate and honestly most course would of closed with that much water. would not recommend this course under current conditions
Great course - Not easy to walk when wet.
The course is well layed out. Apparently it had been closed due to excessive rains. In spite of tremendous rainfall it was in excellent condition. Unfortunately for us it was 'cart path only' play on very, very wet grass.
Looking forward to returning when conditions are little more dryer.
no fun
it was raining and I called to cancel
pro shop said course was open and golfers were playing
got rained on all 10 holes, seat was always wet, mud all around, and saw only 3 other groups on course
guess since guy in golf shop had to be there anyways the course was "open"
No drainage
Course has no natural drainage. Should not be open after rainfall until dry. Playing even with Cart Parh Only does not help.
Sunny and Soggy
While traveling through the area I needed a golf day. I found this course as a "Hot Deal" which I felt was a good price. The area had a break in a bad weather week so my only problem was soggy to very soggy conditions. The greens were in my opinion very good and suspect will be even better later in the season. I did play with a local, Allen, who guided me around the track. Many locals didn't play because of the wet conditions so we flew around in 3 hours. I would play here again.
Pace
Love the course was in great condition but we had two guys in front of us and we are two females who were so slow we had a group of five guys behind us who were pushing us is very frustrating to say the least in a nice way we mention for the two guys to pick up the pace and then one guy got very argumentative and said that they were playing at their own pace another thing I didn't like is that we had to be on the cart path took a lot longer to play that wasn't too bad as frustrating as being behind these two guys I would come back and play hopefully we won't get behind slow pokes
Nice course
Had foursome, pace of play was terrific (especially for Saturday). Greens a little inconsistent.Fast then slow, etc. Carts had no GPS and snack area was out of condiments at 2ish. Otherwise, enjoyable afternoon at a reasonable price. Golf Now $37.50
Nightmare
3pm tee time was too late tor 18 holes and groups were back up on every hole. Was not enjoyable for a single.
St. Mark's is a beautiful course with a great layout.
We enjoyed out round of golf at St. Mark's. The weather was perfect. Most of the fairways are wide and are 300-500 yards. There are a few shorter and one that is 600+ yards. On the front nine we had no waiting at all. On the back nine when we got to the 12th putting green, we could see 4 people putting and at the 13th, 4 people teeing off. We finished the 12th and decided to skip 13 and 14 because of the backup. It was a fun course,
A very good value
I played at 2 pm with a GolfNow hot deal. Course is in great shape fairway to green. Course layout seems to favor lefties with a fade or righties with draw. I prefer the back 9 layout over front 9 but not by a lot. Only minor complaint was I could not get a true roll on the greens... a bit of a bumpy ride to the hole but I suppose that had more to do with grass type and time of day I played. Definitely try this course.
Great golf experience for the money.
Great golf for the $$. Easily permits of a three hour 45 minute weekend pace. Notably friendly staff. Course apparently short, but interspersed with a few long holes, and many of the holes made very challenging by wind and course layout, all make this par 71 course a significant challenge, yet affording playability for golfers at all levels.
Greens Need Work
Overall the course was in good shape. Except for the greens. The greens are spongy and inconsistent. Not to mention they don't roll true. I played here two weeks ago too and they were still bad. They need sand and rolling badly.
Spongy Greens
This course is in great shape accept for the greens. The greens hold approach shots well but are really spongy. This causes the ball to hop all over the place and not hold a line. Very frustrating when you are putting well but give up strokes. Maybe if they sanded and rolled the greens the putting conditions would improve.
Tuesday special
Course was in excellent. Pace of play was slow due to one foursome holding up everyone who did not or were not capable of going any faster
Very Friendly Layout
Convenient to Palomar Carlsbad Airport.
Greens were very nice; soft and well kept and the fairways were well and simply laid out.
No surprises no disappointments!
