hole 2 - that dreaded lake!!! Photo submitted by u000007329719 on 06/04/2013
Fun and challenging
This place is my favorite place to play. Usually we can play a round in 1.5 hours so we usually play two. Small course but challenging, there is water on #2 and sand is in play in most holes. Greens are usually in pretty good shape. There is a pactice putting green but no driving range (no space). All the people that work here are very friendly and always treat us well. The rates are good but I always look for hot deals on golfnow.com
Short 9-holes with a couple dog-legs
I was impressed with the value and the conditioning of the course. Beautiful area of Long Beach and if you have 2 hours to spare in the area, Bixby is a great choice.
2/3 holes where you can pull out the driver or woods and a couple dog-legs which keep it interesting. The only con is the slow pace... a lot of beginners playing here and expect to do some waiting...
Bobby fun 9hole
This is a fun quick 9hole. There's a couple of fun longer holes but all around its a fun easy course, you can squeeze in a quick nine before work no problem!
Great golf day at Bixby Village
We had so much fun we played a second 9 holes. We play her a couple times a month. Great for seniors walking up at $8.50.
Nice
Nice greens fairways kept well a good course for all levels
Lots of Fun
We played on a Saturday during a holiday week and it was not crowded at all. There were several golfers in the groups ahead of us but the pace was even and we were able to play nine holes in a little over two hours. There are some challenging holes but overall it's a fun course and a great value.
great course for beginners.
So this was at the end of April this year that I played it. It was only my second time playing (the first the day before) and I was using a set of my buddies old hand me down clubs. Well needless to say my game definitely has room for improvement. My brother on the other hand was pretty good.
As far as the course goes, it has a few bunkers which my ball gravitated to every time. I think only 1 water trap that I avoided. It was a great course for a first time golfer. The staff was friendly but the best part for me was the other golfers. The 4some in front of us were pounding beers and weren't the greatest. Im not a beer pounder on the course however it made me feel less bad for my poor skills. Im always worried of slowing others down. The two others that by Brother and I were paired up with were great. Gave me plenty of tips and did not make me feel rushed at all. It was a great day.
The course was execellent for practice.
We had first timers with us and the course provided a challenge .
This course was the perfect choice for fathers day.
We did not have the time for eighteen so this nine hole course by the ocean on a hot day was perfect. It has three par fours and enough sand and trees to make it interesting.
9 hole and a good course to play
The golf cousre is nice and fun to play with. Little challenging in some hole and great to be there.
This course is was short but fun.
All and all this course was fun but the day we played it we had to wait quite a bit there was a five some in front of us and they were a little slow,it took us about three hrs to get through nine holes but it was on a Saturday would like to play this course during the week .
Great 9 hole but you get what you pay for
This is actually an executive par 3 course (three par 4s) and is sort of a hidden gem in Long Beach, CA. You really get what you pay for at a regular rate of $16.50, but I got a discounted rate at $12 on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
Course conditions: Decent, but could be better. The tee boxes are OK, and you hit off the grass. There are no mats. The course has alot of small slopes, ups and downs, and fairway grass is decent.
My only complaint is the green is a bit awful and definitely requires attention and maintenance.
Difficulty: I am actually a noob and just started playing golf about 5 months ago, so this course to me is challenging because of all the slopes and turns. I shot a 41, which seems to be my average lately (par is 30). I'm sure this course will be much easier to a more seasoned golfer.
Staff: Very VERY VERY friendly staff.
Recommendation: If you are a noob like me or want to play a 9 hole then yes, I highly recommend this course. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for and don't expect anything exceptional and over the top gorgeous.
Bixby Village track
For a short course its actually a good iron test. Only a few holes are really safe straight ahead shots. Most of the tee shots to par 3s; short or long; require you to know where to land for good shot a the pin or good miss to have chance at par. The par 4s, surprisingly, although short by distance standards are a test of placement and planning on your second shot. Its possible to birdie them but you are required to put the ball in a place where you can go for the pin. Overall very fun course. Very popular with locals
Challenging and fun course
The course is in good shape. Play is a little slow but it is a good course for beginners to intermediate hackers. You can pull out every club; there are three par fours you can hit the driver if you want or a long iron will do. The greens are in very good condition and vary from flat to rolling making for some tough putting. You will find water and plenty of bunkers to make the course challenging. Try it and have fun!
9 hole course with a few good par 4's. Very good for beginer and intermediate golfers.
Condition of course and greens is pretty good. Some greens are pretty challenging: multi-tiered or undulating. Got to use almost all the clubs in my bag. Very good practice. Staff and other players pretty friendly.
Excellent Value for a 9-hole course!
Mix of Par 3's and 4's. A great course to practice short games. Easy to walk and have fun with friends.
good pricing for this course
Overall, the price is right . Course does need some attention, especially the greens ! Also, they need more workable golf carts for us seniors. Only had 4 the day I played 3/25/2013
