Bixby Village Golf Course

First time here, I didn’t arrive with high expectations after reading previous reviews. I did online check in and walked up to the first hole tee box. There was a line of people waiting as pace of play was slower than normal but acceptable once you get going. Much of the delay is due to the water hazard going across the middle of hole 2 with lots of lost balls forcing multiple mulligans in every group. The course had a surprisingly great layout with some very fun par 3 and 4 holes. The fairways were narrow because of the overall design space, and the greens were very challenging with a small area of approach for the hole itself secondary to the general green size. Focus is on precision accuracy to play a clean game here. Occasionally you can take your second shot from the opposing fairway if you slice. If accuracy is an issue expect to hit from muddy or variable grass conditions. This was the only negative of the course. Although very green the grass can get mixed away from the fairways with water puddles in some bunkers, mud pools, and high grass to hide your ball. Many of the greens are slow because the grass is thin causing there to be too much water or tacky mud to grab the ball on the green. I’m not a stickler for perfection of the course in golf. I like a good challenge and this course did deliver on that metric. I would prob play here again and overlook the negatives as they add an element of surprise to the game.

The best in terms of the variations in hope design. Great length and never boring. Greens are 8-10 but the course provides the best challenges in terms of distance, obstacles, and green angulations. In one word, adventure.

I played this course during the summer and the conditions were horrible. It's much better now. Greens still need some work along with better sand in the bunkers but it was way better than the first time I played it.

Great for keeping up your golf skills if you are short on time.

The customer service is horrible the cook/owner of the restaurant is a jerk. Course conditions are bad and not enough carts to go around. It’s sad they have this place open. It used to be a great place.
