Hansen Dam Golf Course

Have played this course many, many times in my group but have made it clear that I no longer want to golf here any more. This course just isn't fun for me. First of all, aesthetics are lousy. It isn't a pretty course and its surrounding area is hardly the best. Not much visually satisfying here.

Second, if you hit about 200-210 off the tee (as I do), too many holes are tough to reach in regulation from the blue tees and probably a half dozen or so are from the whites also. This is complicated by the fact that fairways are often shaggier and the roll isn't good, particularly in the winter and spring. Third, , have found the greens to be periodically in bad shape. Don't find this to be maintained as well as Encino or Balboa. Finally, too many blind shots to greens for my taste - notably 8,9 ,10, 11, 16. Without a good visual reference of the landing area you have to work with on the green, it's just firing an approach shot to those holes and hoping it's not too long or short. Admittedly, these are personal issues, and many longer hitters or golfers who enjoy the challenges of blind shots to greens won't feel the same way about this course as I do.

Poor pace of play for a Thursday mid morning. Me and my buddy were paired with two high handicappers ( awesome young ladies) but were still constantly on the group ahead. The greens were still showing some aerification healing which I can deal with; the masses of un repaired ball marks, that’s a dang shame. Tee boxes decent, fairways good, cant comment on the sand.

Cannot wait to come back. Large course and room for error but also challenging to a degree.

Played here for the first time today. I was really surprised by the quality of the layout and overall playability. The green were aerated but coming back. I’ll return. .

On the day me and my partner played it was windy but we had a great time and will play it again.

Come back in about a month. They just punched the greens and piled TONS of sand on the greens. The greens are like bunkers. It would’ve been great to know that the greens looks like this, I would not have played. Not worth it.

I have played this course many many times since the early 90’s. Still the same! Good course for some one looking to start playing longer courses. Greens were punched but everything else was as usual.

The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Each hole has its own distinct personality, making this a fun course to play…

Arrived to my tee time a few minutes early, was told to go out. Started playing with my wife, on the second hole halfway through a guy comes tearing up the fairway yelling about how we should let him cut in front of us if I’m going to be teaching my gf how to golf. We were playing at a perfectly good rate of play. He went on skipping us and getting stuck behind the slowest two set of walkers on the planet this causing a traffic jam for the entire front 9. Other than that course was ok besides the random woman playing the course backwards hitting towards the tees on hole 6…

Greens rolled well with minimal marks. Many of the white tee boxes were beat up and not level. Impossible to find flat turf on some. All in all, I will continue to support muni golf in the area.
