Tucked away in the Pittsburg foothills, Delta View Golf Club offers exactly what its name implies, beautiful views of the Delta as well as Mount Diablo in the background. The course originally opened as a nine-hole layout in 1947 but it was lengthened to an 18-hole course in 1991. The rolling terrain allows for elevated tees and undulating greens that make it feel longer than the 6,317 yards indicated on the scorecard. The numerous dogleg fairways and abundance of mature trees also add to the illusion of length. Delta View Golf Club's signature hole comes halfway through the course on the par-3 ninth. This demanding hole requires a carry over water to a green that slopes from back to front. You can make up for any mistakes on the next hole, a par 4 that offers a good birdie opportunity.

Challenging Muni for Great Price -- a Secret Gem
Delta View is everything a muni should be and more: great little course that plays long and short, challenging terrain, good condition (though the mower blades need to be sharpened), water carries on three holes, some long uphill greens, VERY friendly staff and grill, although the cook had left early, so I didn't get to try the recommended tri-tip sandwich. Camaraderie is evident among the locals who will welcome you as a long-lost cousin if you care to join their game.
Rolling hills, some long protected carries, well-tended greens and long views over the Delta -- just what you were looking for! I'm going back again this week, it's that much fun. This is not a velvet-fairway place; this is real golf for real golfers.
Get some marshalls out there!
Great weather, great price (online thru Golfnow) and challenging but fair conditions.....BUT the round was virtually ruined by the extremely slow twosome in front of us who virtually crawled to and from their cart to their ball to the green back to their cart etc. And heaven forbid they waive anyone through, even though we were always waiting in the fairway for them to play out and there were several groups piling up behind us. THIS is why people don't come out and play golf even when the conditions are great and the price is right....its too flipping frustrating to hit and then wait 5-15 minutes between each and every shot!
This course access to the player are not very good
Over all everything very good one exception they course provide water access is not good and restroom access not very good. Road for the golf card are welcoming problem.
Great value and dry despite recent rain
Delta view is one of the best courses through the tunnel in the east bay. We teed off at 10:40 on a Sunday and finished by 3:00 and were playing at a leisurely pace with no one in front and no one behind us. The greens were in excellent shape despite recent rain.
Good price , decent course
Good price for a muni. Quirky design. Can be challenging course with slow greens and uneven fairways. Big downside is that this course plays very slow. Plan on 4.5-5 hrs per round.
A Fun Course
I have played this course for at least the last 12 years. I travel some 30 miles so I have to get a DEAL. No two holes are alike, I love the variety. Somewhat hilly which is fun if you have a sufficient skill level. It can be windy so beginners beware. Greens in great shape and fairways pretty good also.
Too slow to play on a wekend.
It took us 6 hours to finish 18 holes on Sunday !!!!! On the average, there was almost a 10 minute wait at each hole. This took all the fun out of playing a good round. The course layout is excellent with few challanging holes. There are couple of holes with elevation from Tee to fairway has a significant drop and the view of the Delta from the Tee is absolutely breath taking. If the pace of playing is under 5 hours, it could be a wonderful and very satisfying experience at this golf course.
Great Course
Fun course, that can be a real challenge for a first timer. I recommend playing with someone who has played the course before, since there are numerous "blind" shots and hidden hazards. Overall it was a great day on the course, I will definitely be back!
P.S.- As opposed to some other places with "View" in their name... this course really does have some awesome views!!!
Delta View
It was a beautiful day. Not only Delta views, but it was clear enough to see the snow capped mountains in the east.
Where are the marshals!
Need to move the speed of play along. Saw a five-some and several female twosomes, all of whom were terribly slow. Saw just one marshal who was just touring around oblivious to the slow play.
A very pleasant experience
I really enjoyed the course and the group of young men I played with. Ready golf at its best. And the players weren't all concerned about the rules. Just an enjoyable time and even some laughter which is often rare on the course. The conditions on this course is good this time of year. May have to revisit it soon
Golf in February
Tee time 8am,
Off almost on time
They let 5somes on course
Took 5 hrs,should be 4 1/2 when slow
Price is right
5 some
We were a threesome that was supposed to be joined by a fourth. But two guys showed up and said the pro shop allowed them to join us. This made us very slow and was a frustrating day.
Too many bad holes
First off, this course claims to have been co-designed by Alister MacKenzie. If so, that would be quite remarkable and worth promoting. His name on the card was the reason I drove 90 minutes to play it. But, doing about 3 minutes of research after the round, I found that MacKenzie died in 1934, more than a decade before this course first opened. He designed 11 California courses, the last of which was Haggin Oaks in Sacramento. After that, he designed Augusta National, which opened in 1933, then retired to his home on Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz (which he designed in 1929.) That aside, this has the potential to be a good layout. I could go back and play it today and still not know where to hit the ball on several holes. But the main problem is the greens - not the condition, because they're fast and smooth. They're far too extreme. Like so many courses in the region older than 50 years, these greens are sloped to take advantage of the green speeds of the time - roughly 8 (and no faster) by today's stimp readings. But these run 10 or 11. I had a partner lip-out a five-footer, then watched as the ball rolled back to where it came and not stop until after it rolled off the green, some 30 feet behind where it was struck. This could be a nice course with major renovations, which would include major trimming of the trees, replacing the tee boxes (some of which slope severely forward, others point toward long-ago abandoned fairways) and complete resculpture of the greens to less severely sloping surfaces. Everybody was very friendly, and if I lived within 10 miles of here I'd consider putting this course at the back of my rotation. If I hadn't joined a group of regulars I would have had no idea where to hit the ball on more than half the holes. I had a lot of fun, but I really wanted this to be a great golf course. It's not. It could be in the future if someone sinks a lot of money into it.
Fun but slow
I really like this golf course. Lots of elevation changes, and one of the only grass driving ranges in the area! It's just really, really, s l o w!!!! Do not be surprised to find 3 groups waiting at a par 3. One hole took us a half an hour!!!
Other than the pace of play, the value is great, the course is fun, and the people are great. Maybe if the management could figure out how to speed up play, I would play there more often. Maybe spacing out the groups would help?
was a holiday
was mlk day and it was slow, but what can u expect in jan and 75 degrees, had to put sunscreen on. i believe all nor cal courses will be dry and fast like roddy ranch very soon. there is no water to keep fairways and greens soft. will make for some great playing tuff courses.
Good value, nice set up.
Quite challenging for beginners. Course design is interesting enough to make one want to come back to take on the challenge, however.
this course has some challenges
the staff was excellent as far as getting out on time teamed us up with two other gentleman and we have a very good time playing golf today excellent weather couldn ask for anything more
Great for the price
Fairways were soft/wet. Greens were soft and slow.
let's golf...
greens are in good condition. Challenging course and almost always Windy..
