Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - South/West

My wife and I enjoyed our first round of golf in a desert area. We played the S/N nines. The course was very scenic with rolling hills, nearby mountains, many elevated tee boxes and beautiful fairways and greens. A fair number of sharp dog-legs keep things interesting. Water figures in quite a few holes. Greens were fairly slow and very reliable. Some water hazards were concrete narrow runoff canals. If you hit one on the fly, the ball may bounce off of the concrete for a nice gain of yardage. There are dozens of golf courses in the Palm Desert area and this is a very nice one.

Starting holes on West and North nines we’re very difficult to find green. Courses need at least one (if not) two more tee boxes. 5300 from Front tees is too long as are 495 and 471 yard par fives. Seniors and women have no advantage.

Except for 1rst 3 holes the remainder was challenging and it great shape.

Had a 6:45 tee time arrived and was told 2.5 hour frost delay. Pro shop gent suggested I go and eat something and kill some time. Came back a couple hours later and starter said if I wanted to play alone I could be first one out. I finished in under 2 hours I enjoyed course which is in great shape. Thank you.

there was a frost delay. but once we got going, pace of play was fast. fairways and greens are in good condition
