Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - South/West
About
Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa offers 27 holes of championship golf. Divided into three nines: North, South, and West, the courses are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The South/West Course enjoys the snow-capped Mount Jacinto as a backdrop. Thousands of palm trees cover the rolling terrain and there are six lakes that come into play throughout all three courses. There are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. The West nine's third hole is possibly the golf course's toughest. It's lengthy at 645 yards and it presents a challenging third-shot approach to an elevated, double-tiered green. The layout offers a few challenging holes but it is still quite player-friendly. In addition to the scenery and playability, another attractive quality is that a round can be played in less than four hours.

Good short golf
RLP is a great spot to play 3 9’s . Pace of play is good too.
Value is good course was in great shape after overseed.
Wonderful day of golf
First nine was slow but picked up during second nine. Course conditions were excellent. I had fun and other players were congenial and I enjoyed their company.
Nailed by sprinkler system in fairway on hole #9
Hole #9 was 280 yards to the green from the tee which has a big wrap-around lake about 15 yards wide in front of it. I hit my tee shot about 20 yards in front of the lake in the fairway. Mid swing on my second shot, the sprinkler system, on that particular fairway, kicks on. I was standing about 3 feet in front of one of the sprinkler heads, which came on like a fire hose … huge volume of water being shoved out. It nails me right in the back and completely soaks me head-to-toe. Since we were in front of the Pro Shop, after finishing the hole, I stormed in there dripping wet and asked them what they were doing watering the fairways in the middle of the day, told them that I wanted my greens fees refunded, and asked them for a dry shirt to put on. They were accomodating, but ...
Las Palmas. Play the South 9
My first time
Staff friendly and helpful
Course was empty on front 9. South course is the best of the 3 courses
North is less perfect
Recommend this course for the price. I did a 9:15 tee with cart for $83. No one on the front 9. Great pace
The north 9 is ok. I didn't play west.
Classic desert course
Nice course a lot of similar holes.
Driving range needs help
Over priced
Staff were excellent, but not prepared. The course has the older feeling and it is not worth the money I paid for 18. $40.00 would be a fair price. Driving range is by far the worst I have ever used. There is no beverage cart so load up on gatorade before you show up. No marshall to discourage slow play. Honestly, use the $89.00 to play a better ciurse.
Played here for the first time, and got a 1:15 tee time. When we got to the course, the pro shop was closing, so we were sent to the starter’s shack to get set up with our cart and tee time. No starter was at the starting area which is at the intersection for the three courses. It was very chaotic for check in and start up for the groups checking in.. When we finally found someone, he was very friendly and apologetic.
After we got going, the course was in fair shape for this time of year and was as expected. Pace of play was a little slow. Might have given this a little better review except for all of the trouble getting started on our round.
Nice course. Poor pace control
The course was in very good condition and a good value for the money would play the course again.
But, the course has three nines that all start from about the same place. We started on the south nine and had good pace of play for our foresome. When we got to our 10th hole, which was the first hole for the north nine, there was a new twosome waiting in the tee and a new threesome halfway down the fairway. The threesome was ridiculously slow, and took a good 20 minutes to play the hole. After the second hole of this nine the twosome quit and we were right behind the slow threesome., waiting a long time for every shot.
The course should not put our groups ahead of a stream of groups playing 18. The slow threesome should have drawn martial attention. An enjoyable first nine turned into an agonizing second nine.
I wouldn’t pay more than $50 for this course
Got to the course and the first interaction with staff in the pro shop was great, then we met the starter and he looked at us like we had 7 heads when we asked which of the 3 courses we were playing, even though the “course rotation board” was blank. After that, the back tee boxes were either listed on the scorecard and not mowed, or just didn’t exist at all. Fairways were 50/50 on if they were alive or not and the greens were the same. I didn’t see a single bunker on the course that was raked within the last week. And the pace of play was 4:45 with no ranger checking on the course. After they funnel you off in 4 minute tee times.
We played with two people who live on the course in one of the condos and they even stated that all the owner cares about is making the course longer to draw in better players, he has no drive to actually make any of the course playability any better. Definitely not heading back to this course any time soon.
From the good side of things though, the pro shop staff was awesome and the apparel inside was very nice and fairly priced. And the overall layout and design of this golf course could be beautiful if there were any money put into the maintenance of the course itself.
