Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - South/West

About
Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa offers 27 holes of championship golf. Divided into three nines: North, South, and West, the courses are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The South/West Course enjoys the snow-capped Mount Jacinto as a backdrop. Thousands of palm trees cover the rolling terrain and there are six lakes that come into play throughout all three courses. There are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. The West nine's third hole is possibly the golf course's toughest. It's lengthy at 645 yards and it presents a challenging third-shot approach to an elevated, double-tiered green. The layout offers a few challenging holes but it is still quite player-friendly. In addition to the scenery and playability, another attractive quality is that a round can be played in less than four hours.

Great course to visit...
We had a good time...staff were great! Course was a bit dry and greens recently seeded and bumpy; but we made the best of it. Many holes had lakes you had to hit over to make the green; got a bit old...there were several. Because we had to lay up a lot; difficult to make GIR's.
We would play again and hope greens were better and our game as well, Ha!
Great Time
Course staff were friendly. After checking in the starter ask if we wanted to start early. We didn’t run into another golfer until the last two holes. Pace of play was great. Grass was brown and patchy throughout the course. Greens have been played and were patchy as well. Great time thanks.
What a mess
This course just opened from overseeding November 1. It is barely green. There are more brown areas and mud/dirt than grass on some holes. Also, there are no longer 27 holes at RLP, there are only 24 as the Omni is refusing to rebuild the south 3 in the wash. They should be ashamed as to the rate they are charging to play. $152 for an AM time. As someone who has played here for years this is now one of the worst courses and highest public cost courses in the PS area. If you are a golf nut like myself and my buddies save your money and go elsewhere.
Fairways are rough, rough is overgrown and greens have been sanded. There is little to no sand in some bunkers and grass is growing up in others. Not sure who is trying to keep this mess going but it is wrong. As to a course that was a favorite for many many years it is now off our list. Maybe the land should be sold off for low cost housing.
Not again.
We got lost on the 3rd hole due to lack of signage.
Fairways below average, burn patches. Greens even worse. I realize it's start of the season, but holy cow we spent most of the day whining about conditions, greens, and searching where to go. NOT worth the money.
Maybe Another Time
Unfortunately, my experience at Rancho Las Palmas left much to be desired. The greens were extremely slow, which made putting a real challenge, and the bunkers were in rough shape, lacking proper sand and even showing weeds around the edges. Additionally, the pace of play dragged, impacting the overall enjoyment of the round. On a positive note, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, trying to get me out on the course early and ensuring I felt welcome. I hope they can address these course maintenance issues to enhance the golfing experience.
Beautiful Course
We booked online and found it a little difficult to find because the address on the reservation was incorrect.
Once we arrived check in was easy and quick. The outside services were busy due to an event taking place and as a result we did not get much attention to locate and load a cart or directions to the first tee. But we found our way. It was cart path only but we didn't really find that an issue. The course was in good condition and most holes were well groomed and pretty wide open. The greens were over seeded and quite grainy. We played the south 9 followed by the north 9. The south course was much nicer. The North 9 plays through a drainage area and as a result it is quite hilly with a lot of shots having blind areas to land and drainage ditches crossing fairways. Overall the course was quite nice and lush with great mountain views. We did not play the other 9 holes but what we could see of the holes we passed it looked pretty nice as well.
End of summer
Wasn’t expecting the course to be in great shape since we are near the end of summer. It’s very doable when you tee off early. Was done in 2:45 after teeing off at 6:30 am. Dried out fairways, thick uncut greens. Still had fun. Staff was super friendly. If you are a golf junkie like me you’ll have a good time.
So Sad.
I've been playing RLP for 40 years. Haven't been there for a couple of years. I was shocked how bad the course is now. So sad to see it go from a plush, well-maintained track to a rundown disappointment. I feel for the homeowners, and I'm glad I avoided investing in a home there.
Recovering from the flood damage
Course is in good shape except for the flood damage.
Bad course
Fairways and greens were in bad shape
Just horrible
