Harder Than It Looks
I was pleasantly surprised by this course. This is a short course with that is fairly straight forward. There is a few doglegs and elevation changes but overall not a lot of trouble, or so it seems.
The real challenge. Comes from. The narrow fairways, fast greens, and thick rough. The type of glass in the rough is very grabby and sponge like. The greens roll true and are much faster than they look. You add a little break and the greens become very challenging. It will be interesting to see how I do when I return. I normally shoot between 75 and 82. I shot 46-43-89 and that was from the white.
The course is only 6500 from the tips but the narrow look oof the tee and the fast small greens can play with you psyche. I will return.
Stix & Stones
Big Difference
The layout is challenging. The condition is very very good as compared to 1 year ago I first played there when it was burned out. Congrats to the crew. Excellent results of hard work.
First time at Canyon Crest
Played here for the first time 10/3/24. Overall pretty solid course. Greens were tough but in great condition. Tee boxes were being seeded so all tees were playing up. Booked a hot deal here and was definitely worth it. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful with navigating the course. Will definitely be coming back and do recommend.
Great day for golf!
Pace of play was great, overall condition of the course has really improved . Would play there again in the future.
Yardage markers
Not sure why yardage markers are non existent like 200,150, or 100 along the fairways. Was told about the cypress trees as 150 by my playing buddies but it’s not a consistent existence.
The deterioration of once a beautiful course
I was a member at Canyon Crest for a couple of years till it was sold. I returned to play yesterday and was very disappointed sadly to see you that the clubhouse is deteriorating the course and the surroundings are left and the worst conditions I have seen ever. The feature of this course does not look good that’s unfortunate. It could be such a beautiful place. Very challenging course very mature. It just needs a lot of love.
Was satisfied.
The staff were so friendly.
The course was well managed.
I was satisfied.
not for new, senior or short hitting players
This course plays long because of Bermuda fairways and some uphill carries so red ties at 5,800+ yrds makes no sense- I can't believe most women can handle this layout- grey tees are 5,200+ which would be better for women with the reds changed to grey for seniors- to many creeks in bad penalty areas forcing a lot of layups- traps not raked and every one had weeds- greens were above average- would play again if they address yardage issue as my wife and I are seniors
It's Ok, but not for $100
This course was pretty much a typical muni course in terms of how it was maintained and the condition. It was just an average course all around. But, for a first time player at this course paying $102 for the round, it was woefully lacking. It comes down to value. This is a $45 per round track, tops. If you can play it for that amount or under you'll probably be pretty satisfied with the experience. Had a burger at the bar after the round that was quite good and the bar/restaurant were nice and the staff was great.
Great Bang for the Buck
Course is in great condition. I like the different types of holes. Not too much elevation. A few fun forced carries.
2nd Timer Will Be Back Soon
Great course layout is challenging
Took a couple of buddies for the first time and they both loved the course..
Clubhouse is awesome and staff is just as awesome , very friendly.. greens weren’t as fast as my first time out which I appreciated because they killed me last time lol
Can’t wait to play it again!
High Hopes
As the title says I had high hopes for this place with it formerly being private. That being said, unless it’s a crazy unbeatable deal, I will golf elsewhere. I will say the staff were very friendly and the layout was pretty good. Other than that, there’s not much to brag about. Plenty of rough/dead patches in the fairway, quite a bit of grass growing through the bunkers, greens had some dead spots(and a lot of un-repared divots), ants in the cart, no water anywhere on course to name a few. It was definitely playable, but the price point is way off. This should be $60-$70 on a weekend at best.
Like I said, the staff is great, and I honestly think it could be a good course. It just seems like it’s fallen a long way down, with a long way out.
We're sorry to hear the course didn't meet your expectations in terms of value, but we're glad you enjoyed the bar and restaurant experience. Thank you for your feedback; it helps us improve.
