No Pressure
Excellent day to be on the course. No one ahead of us, no one following us. Played 18 in 3.5 hours without rushing ourselves. Greens are nice. Pin placement reasonably challenging. Most of the fairways are in nice shape.
Great time
Course was in great shape, it was 100 degrees so not to many golfers out, so they let me go right out on like other courses who will make u wait!!!
Pace of Play Issue
I will start off by saying that I have played Diamond Oaks in the past multiple times and never had a bad thing to say about it. The course itself is a good value for the money and I enjoy the scenery and challenges it presents.
Our group did have an issue, however, with the marshall and our pace of play. There were 3 of us, all were riding, and we tee'd off at around 7:30 AM. It was a busy Saturday morning at the course, but the group behind us was not waiting on us on every hole or anything like that. We kept ahead of them pretty consistently, and kept on what we felt was a reasonable pace.
Around hole 5, the marshall drove up to us and told us we would have to play faster, because there were several groups behind us and it was getting backed up. We thought this was a little odd, given that the group directly behind us was not really being help up by our play. We increased our pace slightly after he said that.
Around hole 15, the marshall pulled up again but this time did not say anything. Instead, he proceeded to sit in his parked cart next to our green while we chipped/putted and watch us. It seemed like he was trying to silently tell us to hurry up without talking to us again. As soon as we tee'd off on the next hole, he pulled around and proceeded to follow our group until we got to the 18th hole. At that point, we were annoyed because having the marshall lurking around while you hit every shot is not the way I want to enjoy my day of golf.
We finish the round, look at the clock and it was 11:15. I said to my friends, "What is the pace of play here? Because the marshall was pushing us all game and we finished our round in 3 hours and 45 minutes."
We briefly spoke to the manager inside the pro shop, who told us the pace of play was "between 4:00 and 4:30." We told him about our experience feeling rushed while playing under the expected pace. Another player inside the shop (not a staff member) chimed in and said that the morning players at Diamond Oaks like to play very fast, so perhaps he was speeding things up to accommodate them.
The combination of the marshall waiting on our every shot for the last several holes and then finishing to see that we played a 3 hour 45 minute round rubbed us the wrong way and made us have second thoughts about coming back to this course, at least on a weekend morning.
Definitely a diamond
My second time playing and my friend's first time, course was in awesome condition, the staff was great and the facilities were all you could ask for. We came down from Reno to play and will definitely be back for more, a great golf experience that I would recommend to anyone, don't miss the opportunity to play this gem.
Tournament Practice Round
I play Diamond Oaks twice annually. One is a practice round and the second is in the Roseville City Senior championship. It is a nice municipal course. The greens were firm and a bit fast and have just enough subtle breaks to make putting a challenge. The course isn't long, but often requires tee shots to specific fairway targets. The bunkers were wet due to a long and wet winter but were mostly playable.
Single player without hand
Good course ,great staff, old style layout. Punched greens shows care for golf course. Will return.
good test for amatures
our group had fun even though the course had been recently aerated.
Diamond is a very fine public course and beautiful to look at.

Slow Slow Slow
The Ranger needs to get on the stick. Waiting 10 minutes between shots Sucks!
This course is in good condition. The pace pf play was good.
Nice
Nice layout. Greens in outstanding winter condition. Fairways have been hit by a lot of rain, so just ok.
Terrible weather - greens terrific
After months of rain and wind, I expected the course to be pretty muddy and nasty.
The fairways were as expected.
However, the greens have held up nicely.
They rolled true and straight all day.
I don't know how they did it, but it was a very enjoyable round - after a LOT of wet weather!
Cold But Had To Get Out And Play
Play this course a few times a year. Nice little course, not real hard but not easy either. We had a lot of rain the previous week so the fairways were a little wet but not bad. The sand traps are about the same for the Sacramento area, not great but OK. The greens were in very good shape, very surprised, not a lot of divots, people were doing a good job of repairing theirs. It was cart path only so the round was a little longer than normal but what the heck, I got out of the house and played a round of golf. I like the course and will play it again.
Course conditions impacted by recent heavy rain
I play regularly at Diamond Oaks and after nearly a week of steady rain and four days of no rain I thought it would be a much dryer course. Well, I was surprised. Not a pleasant surprise, the course was soft, very muddy in spots, and even had standing water in some fairways. I guess you could say this was a good learning experience for me. In the future I will exercise greater caution/reconsideration if the carts are on cart path only.
As for the greens, they were the best I have played on that course, rolled very true, faster than normal, and not very many unrepaired ball marks.
Conclusion, the course is magnificent when it's not been subjected to a heavy rain storm. I'll continue to play here regularly, however next time I'll allow more time for the course to dry up.
Course conditions
Course wasn't in good shape and it was slow play pace. And didn't get my $5 back for returning the cart like promised
