Great Course for the Short Game!
Pace was a little slow today and greens as well since they recently punched. Gotta do it twice a year so can't have blame about greens. Great course for the short game, only hit the big dog on 2 holes.
Very Janky
Massive sign up front stating if they catch you with a cooler it will be confiscated and you will be kicked off.
Another sign saying no caddies or walk alongs.
It’s a old beat up par 3 course... really?! Not worth the price at all.
Greens were ok, rest is a old goat track at best
Yikes.
This course has unfortunately been taken out behind the tool shed. I’ve been playing here for years as it’s great practice and keeps the irons tight, but finally after today unless there are significant improvements made I won’t play there again. Every other par 3 course in the county is in better shape and possibly cheaper at this point. Save your time and go play Mission Bay, Lomas Sante Fe Exc, Emerald Isle, or St. Mark Exc. All very similar distances, prices, and other than mission bay all fairly testing par 3 courses.
Grounds crew
Last I checked, the grounds crew usually pause doing their work while golfers are trying to play through. I understand emergencies, but that day wasn't one of them.
Good short game course
Good course to work on your short game
One of the most challenging courses
This course is by far very challenging. If you can play well here then you can play well in most others. The reason is because every hole forces you to hit straight. If the ball goes left, forget it. If the ball goes right you may have a shot. It forces you to swing staright.
First Time
First time playing the course and booked on GolfNow. Didn’t know what to expect and didn’t realize it was pretty much an executive course but greens and fringe in great shape. Nice little course located in a valley. Would definitely play again.
Fun course. The holes were short by challenging. There weren't a lot of people on the course so the play was quick until about hole 13 where we caught up to some slower players, but even then we didn't have to wait that long.
No grass
Pretty poor course , fairways no grass , tee boxes In terrible condition, greens punched save your money play elsewhere, worst course in San Diego at the moment.
Great value
First time playing this course and was quite surprised at the value you get with this course. It gets some bad wrap and for good reason, play was a bit slow, and fairways weren’t incredible. However, the greensand surrounding fringe areas are very well kept with some awesome undulations. Will be playing this executive course very often from now on.
Too slow
We finished 8 holes in 3.5 hours of play and quit.
Too pricy for what it is
Very fun course but the price VS conditions of the fairways isn’t great. Also the cart isn’t included so for a total of almost $50 per round is similar to nicer courses here in San Diego. Hopefully they’re saving up to water the grass.
Front desk
Players club is worth it at $36 a month for a free bucket of balls everyday and discounted prices but the check in guys are the worst. Especially the tall blonde one, he has the worst attitude every time I’ve checked in with him
Don't waste your money...
I've played Tecolote Canyon for years and always enjoyed the challenging par 3 with tight fairways and it was actually one of my favorite courses for some time. Unfortunately, this course has been let go more than ever in recent months... I'm always understanding it's a $32 round with cart so don't expect pristine conditions and know it's just a fun hack around round. However, when you cant get a level footing in a tee box on 90% of the course, something needs to be done. The greens weren't bad but you can't tee off with a straight shot, the cart path is falling apart all around the course, fairways are basically hard dirt, traps are concrete and they even tell you to not play out of the traps before teeing off... sort of defeats the purpose of a trap to just pull it out behind it.
Nice layout
Course in good condition and greens are challenging which i liked. Pace of play was AWFUL until around the 11th after the Marshall drove bye and said he found the culprits. Staff was unfriendly, short, and did not care about accommodating customers. Had heard this before about the staff, got to see it first hand on this day. Would recommend this course, also warn about the rude staff
Fabulous greens
Love this challenging little course. Greens are in best shape ever and I’ve been playing regularly here for 5 years. The new superintendent and green keeping team are doing an amazing job. Improvements after 3 months are clearly visible.
Just regretting the behavior of certain cart drivers who keep destroying the fairways and around the green. This course should be cart path only.
