Too slow
We finished 8 holes in 3.5 hours of play and quit.
Too pricy for what it is
Very fun course but the price VS conditions of the fairways isn’t great. Also the cart isn’t included so for a total of almost $50 per round is similar to nicer courses here in San Diego. Hopefully they’re saving up to water the grass.
Front desk
Players club is worth it at $36 a month for a free bucket of balls everyday and discounted prices but the check in guys are the worst. Especially the tall blonde one, he has the worst attitude every time I’ve checked in with him
Don't waste your money...
I've played Tecolote Canyon for years and always enjoyed the challenging par 3 with tight fairways and it was actually one of my favorite courses for some time. Unfortunately, this course has been let go more than ever in recent months... I'm always understanding it's a $32 round with cart so don't expect pristine conditions and know it's just a fun hack around round. However, when you cant get a level footing in a tee box on 90% of the course, something needs to be done. The greens weren't bad but you can't tee off with a straight shot, the cart path is falling apart all around the course, fairways are basically hard dirt, traps are concrete and they even tell you to not play out of the traps before teeing off... sort of defeats the purpose of a trap to just pull it out behind it.
Nice layout
Course in good condition and greens are challenging which i liked. Pace of play was AWFUL until around the 11th after the Marshall drove bye and said he found the culprits. Staff was unfriendly, short, and did not care about accommodating customers. Had heard this before about the staff, got to see it first hand on this day. Would recommend this course, also warn about the rude staff
Fabulous greens
Love this challenging little course. Greens are in best shape ever and I’ve been playing regularly here for 5 years. The new superintendent and green keeping team are doing an amazing job. Improvements after 3 months are clearly visible.
Just regretting the behavior of certain cart drivers who keep destroying the fairways and around the green. This course should be cart path only.
Fun course, went during the winter so there was some mud and the tee boxes weren’t great, but that is January. Challenging greens, with some chances to crack out some low irons.
With an 0815 tee time they were already 30 mins behind. Took 4 hours to play this course with the slow pace of play. Constantly waiting at the next tee on the front nine.
More Grass
I like Tecolote because it's close to my house, but they need to fix up the tee boxes and fairways. While the greens are in decent shape, there's just not a lot of grass on the course and that's a sad fact.
I Love Tecolote
One of the best courses for its price with romaine of the most challenging greens for a Par 3 in San Diego. I love playing Tecolote and look forward to every time I play here.
For causal walk n short games
2nd time playing here with Wife and son, wife being a beginner. it's friday and very hot 84F for Jan.Waite at every hole, only greens are decent with grass. Fairways have are almost naked with no grass, and many pot holes can twist your ankles. it's a small short course so balls coming from all directions. One of the reasons it's busy today is probably due to being a Friday of a long weekend (Monday being MLK day). The first time being here wasn't this crowd.
To be fair, the course being 3161 yds is better than most of the short courses in San Diego area. it has certain level of difficulties and can hit driver 3 holes. will come back n play again w wife.
Fun day
Greens were fast n challenging,, gophers have hit the fairway some but overall it was a fun day and solid core supply for the money spent. Note::: bring extra balls
Bad In Almost Every Way
We had to wait a half hour to tee off on the 4th hole. The tee boxes are pure dirt...every single one of them. On the back 9, every hole is on the side of the canyon, and if you don't hit the hole directly they will run off the green, every single time. The greens are nice, but every other piece of terrain is poor.
3 clubs
You will only need 3 clubs to play this course. Greens were in pretty good shape but all the tee boxes have no grass and we’re all moved up. Landscapers were yelling during the round while people are trying to hit their ball. Not a good value for $47 when you can play a legit golf course for the same price or a few dollars more.
