fun 9 holes
We had a fun morning at Gleneagles. Holes were long enough to make 9 holes worthwhile. The guy in the shop was very nice. It got a bi windy but that's normal in SF.
. Check the historical bones....
A historic design gem with some challenging conditions and fine greens
Sad shape
The course has seen better times having played this course since I was a kid. Definitely the worst conditions I’ve ever experienced compared to all of the other San Francisco courses I have played throughout the years. Hardly any grass on the fairway between the tees and greens. Not much effort being made to maintain the course and access is difficult from Bayshore Blvd due to new housing developments and the closure of Sunnydale Avenue at Hahn Street.
Gets the Job Done
Was first time playing. Enjoyed the open landings and hilly terrain. Approach shots are moderately challenging. Holes are on the shorter side and greens are quick and dynamic to read. Wind was screaming the day I played which added complexity to the course. Would recommend for a casual round.
Worst Course in the Bay Area
this course is absolute dog poop. I've played at least 50 different courses throughout the Bay Area and this is by far the worst this place makes Montclair golf course look like a country club. To pay over $30 for nine holes and the chorus is more dirt than grass, the bunkers are straight mud dirt with a fat lip completely around every bunker. There are literally full bottles of urine and trash everywhere. Couldn't even finish the second hole because there were 3 coyotes chilling on the green. Trees in the middle of a par 3 fairway, just an absolutely garbage golfing experience. I couldn't even finish the full 9. I left after 5 holes. How your course looks this bad in the middle of June is beyond me. Definitely getting a refund through my bank cause this place straight robbed me.
When it’s windy, it’s the hardest course in Northern California
This course is such an enigma. It’s got some interesting architecture and there is just no way to score here unless you know exactly what you’re doing. But even then, when the wind blows, and it usually is, it’s the hardest course in Northern California. If you know, you know.
I wouldn’t go back
Course was in really rough shape. The starter wasn’t much better.
I won’t go back here.
Gofers and Coyotes
To many gofer holes and maintenance workers stirring up dirt into the air. Also their were two Coyotes in they fairway.
Underappreciated gem
This course flies under the radar but it's absolutely wonderful. If you want to get better at golf, this is where to play. Lots of variation in hole layout (especially if you play the yellow tees as the back nine), you can basically hit every club in your bag, and the greens are generally small and challenging. Also, there's usually wind to contend with, which adds more fun.
Key drawbacks: no driving range
Challenging course.
With few par 3s, this course is great for solid shots off tee and approach shots. There are a ton of daisies on the fairway, so a colored ball would be best. The fairway soil was saturated or had plenty of rough patches, so don't expect the balls to roll, knowing your carry per club is key.

Thanks for the FIVE STAR review, come back again!
Thank you for your FIVE STAR review. The wind comes up in the summer afternoons shifting the course to beast mode. Be prepared to take two more clubs on many measured distances.
