Underappreciated gem
This course flies under the radar but it's absolutely wonderful. If you want to get better at golf, this is where to play. Lots of variation in hole layout (especially if you play the yellow tees as the back nine), you can basically hit every club in your bag, and the greens are generally small and challenging. Also, there's usually wind to contend with, which adds more fun.
Key drawbacks: no driving range
Challenging course.
With few par 3s, this course is great for solid shots off tee and approach shots. There are a ton of daisies on the fairway, so a colored ball would be best. The fairway soil was saturated or had plenty of rough patches, so don't expect the balls to roll, knowing your carry per club is key.
Challenging course but poorly maintained
Course conditions were terrible. Haven’t played there due to poor conditions last year but hasn’t gotten better. Slow play- twosome ahead of us and took over 2 1/2 hours.
Sorry you had a poor experience. Thanks for choosing Gleneagles.
Horrible conditions
Fairways are nonexistent, no carts so hard to walk, rentals were very worn strata starter sets, staff was nice but not worth playing again
Thanks for the four stars, appreciate you choosing Gleneagles.
Thanks for rating staff experience as EXCELLENT!
friendly staff doesn't over write the poor condition
Very friendly staff who went over the course layout after knowing me being first timer here.
Great green condition. But poor fairways and bunckers.
Good layout design with really tall trees and good amount of slopes and tough lie angles everywhere on the fairways.
We hope you come back and give us another try.
Waste of time & money
Sad to say this course is in the worst shape of any course in the Bay Area. Dirt & rock filled fairways, rock hard bunkers etc. $35 for what appears to be an abandoned course is outrageous. And to top it off, the guy who works in the “pro shop” is extremely rude and confrontational. I will not be returning here
We apologize for your less than satisfactory visit.
Thanks for your FIVE STAR review! Love it!
Sorry Gleneagles wasn't a good fit for you.
Sorry Gleneagles wasn't a good fit for you.
Forgotten Gem
Gleneagles was in top 100 nine hole layouts in the country for a reason: Classic, as in timeless, tough layout. Doing the best they can with what The City will give them. Thank you to management and staff for persevering! May need to bump your ball once or twice. Well worth the visit!
Thank you for acknowledging our classic and timeless layout.
Thanks for the FIVE STAR review, come back again!
