Sherwood Forest Golf Club

I’ve been playing Sherwood Forest since the 1970’s and it remains one of my favorite local courses. But the past 10 years they have struggled to keep the course in decent shape.

Today the front nine was closed for maintenance so we had to play the back 9 twice. I believe if this is the case the course should CLEARLY state that fact on GolfNow, but I didn’t see that when I booked the tee time. I believe I should have received a partial refund because the entire course was not open. I was not very happy we had to play the back nine twice, but the weather was perfect & our group enjoyed the day. I am pleased to see that they are attempting to get the course in better condition, and I hope they do.

Because Sherwood is such a great layout.

In past rounds I’ve played about a year and a half ago the greens always had some flaws due to extreme heat that made it difficult to putt. That discouraged me from playing the course and why I chose not to play there anymore. Recently I heard that wasn’t the case anymore. I hadn’t played much golf anywhere since I stopped playing Sherwood but chose to take it on with the golf now hot deal. I was pleasantly surprised that although not perfect it was in very good condition and noticed they make a great effort to keep the carts off near the greens and was very happy with the condition of the course especially the greens.

The greens were incredibly slow with heavy ball marks and some aeration plugging. The tee boxes were a mess. No grass just dirt.

I’ve been playing Sherwood Forest since the 1970’s & it’s a great layout & fun to play.

Unfortunately they just can’t keep the course in good shape during the hot summer months. I won’t return until they can get the course in better shape.

Just finished 18 at Sherwood and this is probably one of the worst conditions I’ve seen it in. Pace of play is always great. Middle fairway doesn’t mean anything, mud balls on numerous holes, tee boxes are muddy, greens are muddy. Just awful for $60+. When mentioned to the pro shop employee, his response was “yeah.” Normally don’t write reviews but felt today’s round needed it.

Great price with golf now, pace was great, fairways were a little messy with work being done but noting too major.

This course has improved tremendously in the last few years greens are in great shape fairways are pretty good a couple of tee boxes need some work. Overall I really enjoyed playing there

Love the layout and the vibe. Laid back. Trees can be your friend or your enemy. Depends on how they feel that day lol but adds plenty of shade for a hot day. The only thing was their golf carts seemed extremely slow.

Highly recommend this course. Greens are well kept. There are lots of trees that make it challenging but also provide good shade when it's warm. Creek that runs around it makes it a beautiful and peaceful place.

New management has done. Wonders with this course. It is in great shape.
