Great condition slooooow play

The course in is fine shape considering we are entering a drought. The staff is very friendly. The problem is slow play we paid for 18 holes but left after 9 (2 hours and 45 minutes). Our foresome waited on every shot. No marshals in sight. I probably won't go back.

Fun course

Front nine is is fun with a couple doglegs, back nine is back and forth fairways. Better bring your hazard game as this course is lined with trees!! It's a fun place and the environment is friendly.

Bennett Valley Golf Course a Favorite

I love this course. It's challenging but has fairways I can mostly deal with. The only negative is it's so popular that rounds take longer than at other courses and start times can get delayed. I guess it's worth it, though. Greens are challenging but almost always in great shape. I rarely see a public course in such good shape. I like to move around to different courses, and this is in my two or three times a month category.

Graet Muni Course

I have a great time every time I play here. Challenging, tight at times. The first hole creek has me in it's claw every time! Seems like a simple course to beat but.......... This last round was EXTREMELY SLOW, 5 hours plus. Never had this problem here before.

Greens are in good shape, course is good for entry level players.

Good people and good golf in a beautiful setting. Challenge can be had for all players, but entry level players might appreciate the course a bit more. Greens roll true, fairways are not quite as tight as they could be. Lots of trees make the course challenging and visually pleasing at the same time.

Great value, beautiful club house and course well maintained

This is a wonderful course and the facilities are beautiful as well.
I have played this course many time over the past few months it has always been challenging and fun. However I played Friday and the course was over booked, long waits at many tees that much waiting takes away from your momentum and enjoyment. I realize in these tough economical there is pressure to keep the course financially viable but over booking will keep me away 5 plus hours is too long. I will gladly pay SLIGHTLY more in hopes of reducing the amount of players. Bennett Valley is a wonderful value and possibly one of the best courses in Sonoma County, hopefully the management can find a happy medium.

Bad service

The course was in poor condition, lots of hard pack. Service was dismissive and cold. I got there for my tee time and was told that they had a threesome that wanted to play alone. So i was pushed backed to another group. That made my starting time 20m later. When they finally called us to the tee I had to go back in because they didn't call my name. The starter said that she had said my name. I said if you had called my name I wouldn't be in here.
if your a single be prepared for discrimination.

Good.

green and fairway in good condition. not long and not short. but a little bit narrow fairway. Miss a tee shot and you have to second-shot behind trees, almost making it impossible to aim directly at green. Just lay out in many cases. Beautiful weather in Santa Rosa. Considering the price, it is a fairly good course to try.

Better than I remembered

I use to golf all the time at Bennett Valley but hadn't played there for maybe a couple years. A year or so after the club house upgrades the price went up and the pace of play went down. The prospect of a 5-6 hour round couple with the many bland holes on the back nine put this course way down the list.

Checking in at the pro shop I was requested to provide printed paperwork from GolfNow?! As a long time GolfNow custom this is something I have never experienced and a request I think that could have been handled better. The implication was something with my tee time wasn't right. The request for my wife to spectate was handle as usual with a cart fee.

The greens had been recently aerated but the course in general was in pretty good shape. There were just a few dead spots on the fairways and not too many foot prints in the bunkers. As we teed off there was no one in front of us so the pace was not an issue but we ended up waiting a bit on the last four holes. Based on our four ball catch groups so many holes ahead and no signs of a marshal I would still be nervous about pace on a busier day or time.

I had forgotten how enjoyable the front nine are at Bennett Valley. Mature trees, elevation change, no houses giving a very natural feeling as play follows Matanzas Creek. The back nine still has the same boring 6 holes that are strait, tree lined, and no fairway bunkers zigzagging through a flat field. For the prepaid GolfNow rate is was a good deal and an enjoyable day.

The bar staff was friendly and there are many more drink and food options than at most golf courses. The patio is a nice place to relax with a drink and look out over the course. I think it will not be so long before I find myself back here again.

Excellent Muni

Bennett Valley is a beautiful, well maintained municipal golf course. Pace of play is is about average for the area. The course is lined with large old trees. The greens are in excellent condition. The fairways and bunkers are in very good condition. This is a popular course that is worth the fee.

Always has very good greens

Best value around. Lots of trees, and if you go into them it will cost you. The layout is flat, but the trees give it a great feel--they line every hole. The staff is friendly, and tries to help with whatever I need.
There can be lengthy rounds--5 hours, but I would not say it is slow.
I recommend it to everyone.

Play is way too slow because of the allowance of groups of 5 and people not teeing off in time (waiting for others to get to far in front).

Play is way too slow because of the allowance of groups of 5 and people not teeing off in time (waiting for others to get too far in front). Lack of a marshall really hurts play and waiting is detrimental to people's games.

much to slow, waited on every hole. Would have been great at 4 hours or under.

They need to move the golfers along. No marshals on course but beverage and snack vender on course.
