Great Value
Bennet Valley is in great shape. The greens are running well, but not so fast as to be intimidating. The cost was excellent for the area (I recommend looking for the prepaid deal).
Very nice for a municipal course
The Bennett Valley Golf Course is one of the better maintained public courses in Sonoma County - made even more impressive by the fact that it's a city-owned municipal course. The layout is moderately challenging with enough variation to keep things interesting but there are quite a few "just hit it straight" par fours that look like a bowling alley on the tee. One thing to note: the course is laid out long (6,200 yds from the whites) so playing from the white tees here is almost as long as playing from the blues on other nearby courses.
The maintenance is just incredible - fairways are always in great shape, greens are well groomed and run true and, most surprising for a muni, the bunkers are well drained so they're soft and fluffy. Except for the deep of winter when it's been raining heavily, the course is well drained and playable nearly year round.
If there's one complaint, it's that BVGC isn't a secret. Everyone knows how good the course is (and how affordable) so the weekends are very busy. The pace is pretty slow on weekends as the course is full of inexperienced players weilding monster slices so heads-up when you're playing on an adjacent fairway!
Slow, but awesome for municipal
Pace of play was a little slow, but was about par for a publicly available course. I will say that although this course is a municipal course maintained by the city, it is one of the most well maintained courses i have ever played. The greens are smooth, fairways well groomed, and no rough that would simply hide your ball. The thin tree-lined fairways are pretty challenging, but well worth the money. It's no pebble beach, but fantastic for a public course.
Course was in great shape and great value!
The course was in a great shape. The staff was very friendly and would definitely come back and recommend to friends. Finally the price was right!
Greens are some of the hardest in area
Very nice course well maintaned sand traps are in great shape You don't want to play here unless you can hit it down fairway lots n lots of trees The down side SLOW PLAY to many 5 somes 5 hour round is the norm
very well maintained
though a couple of greens were recently sanded course was in excellent shape esp fairways. as always friendly staff on hand.
Well maintained fairways
Nice course. No dry hard spots. Bunkers kept soft. We played with an aeration alert. Some of the greens were more like a bunker with so much sand due to the aeration. Overall, had a nice time on this course.
Good condition
I like the course. Play is slow. It is a public course though!
great course
hit it long andstraight, the course is narrow and long, the greens are fasttttttttttttttttttttt
Excellent value.
The staff was very friendly and cordial.Especially cart lady and the bartenders.Course was in very good shape for late winter. This is a relatively easy course if you keep it straight, otherwise the trees will get you.Greens are a nice challange with lots of movement and depressions .
Great Value
One of the best Sunday values around -- $38.00
it's worth the drive
Had a Blast!
I am used to playing in the Sacramento area where the fairways and greens are all brown so in my opinion this is a beautiful course! I thought this course had a little of everything. Some challenging areas and some easy which made for a fun round of golf. Its a 1.5 hour drive from my house and I am going back tomorrow for the second time in a week!
Fun course to play, with a very friendly atmosphere.
Bennett Valley is a fun course to play, and located in a beautiful setting. The people are very friendly, and with Legend's restaurant/sports bar adjacent to the club house, makes for great entertainment.
Nice local course
My local home course. Aside from getting soggy in the winter months, always kept in good condition and a great value.
beautiful course. too wet.
Beautiful tree lined holes. Well marked and in good condition. Average size greens also well maintained. Poor drainage; two days
after rains and still extremely wet. Price was right thanks to golfnow.
Like the look and layout, and has a nice sports bar/grill too.
Only thing was the 5 hour, slow round.
But, we would play again.

Good value course
This is a good course. Greens are good, consistent but not great. Mature trees between fairways makes misplayed drives a little challenging but not OB. Perimeter OB and creek through several holes adds more challenge. I like the layout. Nice people very accommodating.
