“Aeration”
Aeration is one thing, but completely covering your greens in several inches of sand and putting multiple flags in the middle of the fairways is another. I paid $41/per to play a glorified par 3. We drove back to the starter after 6 holes (2 of which were mid-fairway) to get our money back, and Phil stood firm with “no refunds once you tee off.” We never would have teed off had we known. The exemplary customer service was the cherry on top.
Aerated greens, terrible
Aerated all 18 greens. Sand an inch thick. Didn't disclose that on the website at booking. Shame on you.
Woodley Good, GolfNow Bad
Great round, played here many times, go for it. LA muni courses are actually great. Awesome birds at this course too. Greens in good condition. But GolfNow absolutely messed up my reservation and created a huge headache for me and others who had used the app to book here that I talked to. Apparently no reservation details or proof of the tee time was communicated to the staff and there was no easy way to contact customer service. Because of GolfNow, they took my money in seconds, and then stole my entire warmup time, and the time of the course staff and other players.
Poor conditions
I really like the layout of this course and have played here plenty of time but wow has the conditions of this golf course has gone down. Compare to balboa/enicino, woodley lakes is the ugly step sister of them all. It’s ashamed that they are not up keeping this course because it can be one of the best ones around the valley. Also it would be nice to not rely on a food truck to provide food and drinks. Two thumbs down.
The OPPOSITE of Customer Service
Course is dying. They haven’t watered much. May be a little for the greens at minimum. The rains haven’t been enough to help. No restaurant so they SOMETIMES have a food truck thing at the starter but that’s it. Compared to Encino on the other side, clearly the city didn’t care one bit about Woodley. The range here is trashed, the workers don’t care about the paying customers, they are rude and don’t want to help, doing bare minimum. And this is the only range with real grass, so you would think LA City would want to make it top notch, but nope, typical low end cheap muni treatment. But they’re happy to charge you the same as the other courses. Sad.
A victim of Covid?
Hard to say whats going on here. This course used to be so much better. Food services, bar, well maintained. Now none of these exist. Looks worn down and sad.
