Country Club
It's always great when your able to play a private course for a public rate. The layout st Candlewood is challenging. It's not very long but you have to be in the fairway or you won't be to score here. Will always play here it's a good test for all the clubs in your bag.
YUCK! Stuck with old glory days attitude.
I get it. The course is a private country club with its heydays in 70-80s. Now it's trying to gather new members so it opened partially to Golfnow. Probably some newbies came in and did thing that was cringe-worthy. I'm a minority, so I often am on receiving side of bad attitude. but when a pro-shop guy threatens me with "If you don't finish your round in 4h 15min, we will come out and remove you." it's a whole new level of rudeness.
Course is narrow and short with alot of overlapping greens/tee boxes. Green was ok but conditions are no better than Skylinks.
Keep dreaming about your glory days with that kind of attitude. There are so many better alternatives out here.
*Luckily we finished round in less than 4hrs. Thank GOD!
Stay away
What a joke! For a Country Club it's disappointing how bad this course is! I never saw a maintenance person or crew working around the course the whole round! The rough is not maintained, for instance deep rough on one side and cut rough on the other side! Overgrown trees! Club house looks junkie, paint pealing around the club house, golf cart are in terrible condition! After the round the starter asked if I would be interested joining Candle Wood! I really had to hold back from laughing! I said, definitely not! Sorry, but this is terrible! Sad! Definitely won't play here again $59 for green fees is a ripoff!
OLD FLAME
Candlewood is the old-school, tree-lined, form-fitting golf course I used to dislike, but its narrow tee chutes and fairways force discipline and creativity not often found on LA-area courses. The layout is a bit awkward and perhaps dangerous as it zig-zags in front of hitting areas, but the course is well marked and tee boxes are guarded. The greens roll true and fair, and areas around the green force a variety of creative chips, flops, and pitches. It is a short course that plays longer than its distance because driver is not always the play off the tee. It is a fair test that requires almost every club in the bag. The par four stretch that closes the back nine will make or break your day.
Great Layout. Friendly members
I had a great time at this course. Very friendly staff and members. I ended up playing with a group of members and had a great time. The course has a great layout and small, fast greens. I would definitely recommend playing here.
Enjoyable Day
Payed Candlewood for first time with my son on a perfect California spring day.
Nice course and good value for the money.
Course is relatively short, but trouble on the right on nearly every hole and fast, small greens it is plenty challenging.
LOST BALLS FEET FROM FAIRWAY
For the same money I'd rather play Industry Hills (Ike or Babe). The rough off the fairway makes it hard to spot the ball. I lost 3 balls near the fairway. Had to drive in circles to find my ball which was usually less than 10 feet from the fairway.
Good layout, great condition
I was skeptical about this course. Hill side course (which I don't really enjoy), but it doesn't really play like a hill side course. No trick shots, no extreme lies. Course is lush and green. Pro shop employees extremely helpful. Great value, worth every penny.
Good course
Course is in great condition! Golf carts need to be improve, also more friendly staff. Will play again.
A Relaxing Challenge
Even though there were a few rough spots they didn't have any influence on the outcome of of my shots. I enjoyed the overall experience and the subtle ways the course challenged me. I was very relaxed and happy to see the pace was just what I prefer and that is being able to never feel rushed nor delayed. I enjoyed being able to play at my own pace and was pleasantly surprised to see the round completed in less than 4 hours. Golf should be able to be played under those conditions and that's exactly what I received.
Fun course but way too slow
We enjoyed the course but man was it slow out there. The management let us use the golf boards which was awesome!
course conditions can be improved, but overall wonderful experience
I can late to my tee time by 25 minutes. But the staff was very nice. The conditions can use some improvements. But overall I am able to finish in 4 hours. If you are not accurate, you will pay the price on your score.
PLEASANTLY SURPRISED
I heard some negatives about this private course that is now letting non members play. Really enjoyed the course with some narrow holes. Definitely want to play again. Like the greens and course had some blemishes caused by draught butt overall had a country club feel and pace at a good value.
Welcome to playing a course with real rough. Cali golfers are used to burnt out rough.
