Foothills Golf Course - Championship 18 Course
About
The Championship 18 Course at Foothills Golf Course is one of three courses at the Foothills facility, but it is the only 18-hole course of the three. Built in 1971, Dick Phelps designed the course. The public course is 6,908 yards at its championship tees. Although the course is relatively flat, there are some hills that cause uneven lies. The course features other difficulties as well. Pretty lakes and creeks create water hazards that come into play on some holes. The greens are bent grass while the fairways are covered in Bermuda grass. There is also a putting green and on-site teaching pro to help golfers with their game.

SUPER SLOW, Useless ranger
They over sell tee times here, my round would have taken nearly 6 hours had I not quit early. Ranger is only a word here, no regulated play at all. Had four bozos in front of us who would rather tear up the course and carts than play. They were even doing pushups on the greens, plus showed up wearing Tee shirts. Greed is alive and well here too, “let’s just cram as many golfers through as possible”. If you don’t have time for the antics then go elsewhere. Poorly managed...
Fairways trashed greens still bumpy 60 dollars no good
Great views! Good central location
I have played this course twice now and really love it! Other than losing a few balls to the wild grassy areas, this course offers challenging and fun holes throughout. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to up their skills and also enjoy some nice scenery!
Fun day, good deal
This municipal course has been on my list to do for some time. I had previously played the fun exec 9 and par 3 courses multiple times. The marginal forecast for temperatures dropped price into an unresistable range, and we bit.
We warmed up with a par 3 ($10) round to let the temps creep up. That was fun. The course had fairways but not greens (soon) aerated. Fortunately the goose droppings were less abundant than at some courses (thanks, dog!). The front 9 goes along a US property border (which turns out to be the Englewood Federal Corrections facility) gives an odd vibe. The bluegrass was greener (but not too sticky yet) and healthier than expected given the challenging winter we had. The layout was more stimulating than I expected with just enough trees making you think about direction & shot shape. Holes #5 (with its elevated black tee), #7 (with its strategically located pond), #14 (with its L dogleg and R leaning fairway), #6 &16 (with their S shaped fairways and water (dry now) canals), and #18 (with its layup or how far do I carry question) stand out in my mind for the layout. The black tees at 71.6/127/6920y are reasonable, and gold tees at 64.0/107 or 70/121 & 5362y give those seeking a shorter course an option. The course is very walkable, nice!
The staff was very friendly, and the course was off cart path restrictions. Overall, this day provided a really fun day!
Decent Views; Slow Pace
This course is very inexpensive so we figured we would try. Booked 9 holes on The Championship course and teed off at 1:12. We didn’t finish the 9 hole round until after 4 o’clock. We waited on every tee and after each drive before we could hit our approach. We encountered groups of 5 playing best ball from our fairways, women hitting multiple shots, etc. At almost 3 hours to the play 9 holes I was surprised they didn’t have a ranger or starter in a cart telling people to pick up their pace. Never the less, we won’t back.
Really impressed
Course was in a great shape all the way from the tee boxes to the green. $60 is a very fair price for this course.
Great course, good clubhouse and awesome staff
Aerated greens were a minor annoyance, but the course was in nice shape. It's a nice layout with moderate challenges, slopes, trees and a few small creeks.
Fun for all skill.
Friendly staff, driving cart in very good condition, airiating greens.
great recovery
Less than a week earlier I arrived at the course to play only to find it was closed due the serious weather the night before. The greens crew did a great job of making it not only playable but like nothing happened.
Slow play
Course was over crowded and slow, blind finishing hole at 18— poor service in in restaurant!
Not impressed —
My old favorite
Been playing this course for over 40 years. And yes its even more mature than me. This is the classic park type course. Its got a few more hills than Denver courses, and trees as well. Only a couple holes with lakes, but there is a creek running thru a couple holes as well that actually comes into play depending on your level. Little sand however. Nice park layout.
The best part about this course is it’s in excellent shape. It’s maturity and great grounds staff shine. Fairways and greens are as perfect as you can get. Although the fairways have a fair amount of room, you still need to do some course management as many of the tree are mature and big as well. Greens are fairly flat and good size. They do have several nice dogleg holes as well that make it fun.
Restaurant is good for after your round with a nice deck to overlook the course. Also they have a pretty nice pro shop.
A nice touch is that they have towel buckets were they have the drinking water buckets through out the course.
Don’t forget the par 3, and executive 9 courses as well.
Thanks Foothills for going back to being able to book as a single on the championship 18 thru Golf Now. Your sure to see me more!
Foothills Fun
Very nice golf complex with a variety of options and practice areas. Really enjoyed the layout of the 18-hole course. Multiple tee boxes and well maintained greens. Both short hitters (me) and long hitters will enjoy the risk/reward nature of the par 5 holes. Signature hole (No. 4) provides a great view and a well pumped driver can put you in a position to score. Not many traps but a few well placed water hazards. Nice elevation changes throughout the course provided a fun afternoon on the links!
I recommendation this course
I played this course yesterday.
