Too much construction…
Wellen is a newer course with fairway and green conditions in excellent shape. The problems are that it is too tight, with houses too close to the tee box areas, and a lot of construction going on all around the course (so it’s only going to get more crowded). The tight layout was exacerbated by the pace of play, with multiple groups stacked up at tee boxes (which were already far too close to the prior hole’s green). 4:20 to play a relatively short course is far too long.
- New course, slow play, nice fairways & greens, layout is okay - tight, numerous holes need to wait for tee off from group in front before proceeding to the tee box
Good course conditions
The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. Clubhouse staff is top notch. Unfortunately many players did not repair ball marks on the greens or fill divots in the fairways. Did not like houses and condos being so close to the fairways on several holes. Also did not like several holes that had severe doglegs with blind tee shots.
Great course
Nice design with many bunkers and water.
Lot of construction but still good to play.
Some houses are build near the tee boxes but ok to play since you have to aim away from them.
Will definitely play it again and recommend that course.
NICE STAFF BOTH IN THE CLUB HOUSE AND ON THE COURSE. SOME RAIN BUT NOT ENOUGH TO QUIT.
Great newer course
Really enjoyed playing at Wellen Park. Very friendly staff. Great conditions. Straightforward design makes it not intimidating. The tough greens make up for that. Good GPS on the carts showing pin positions. You still can get a good deal, for now.

I’m sure that if you play this course from the wrong tees you will find it both challenging and frustrating. I can see where people get nervous with the placement of condos and homes so close to the teeing areas .You will definitely need to play it more than once so you can know your way around. The greens are the best I have found in the Venice area . We did play from the correct tees and had a great time and can’t wait to play again

Nice layout. Need time to get use to the speed of the greens. Downhill puts were way fast
