Slow course, Very hostile players
I've never experienced a situation on a course as bad as this one, the whole course was backed up because everyone was let to go whenever instead of at their tee times and the people behind us began hitting into our group, yelling at us to play faster. We had no way to go faster as the group ahead of us was waiting as well. We reported this behavior on the turn and the person at the desk didn't do much. On the 18th hole that group came up and tried to start a fight with my group, which one of our members deescalated and we went to the green at which the group hit balls at us, one of which missing my friend's head by inches. We reported them again and the person on desk stated that he would "tell the manager and see what he wants to do" as we left the clubhouse the group came over and started getting in our faces and yelling at us for talking to an employee, telling us that we were in the wrong and threatening to "f us up" if we kept talking. Overall not a great experience and will not be returning to this course.
Staff Incompetent, Fellow Golfers Worse
When we arrived the staff told us to go off as soon as we wanted strange that we could go off well before our tee time, but not that unexpected. Pretty soon into our round this became an evident problem as the course became extremely backed up. While backed up the golfers behind us interpreted the slow pace as being explicitly our fault and began becoming aggressive on a par 3 on the front nine and purposely hit into us. Did our best to increase pace of play remainder of round but arguments continued like they were looking for a fight, never seen such belligerent golfers on any other course in Augusta. Luckily from holes 7-17 things appeared to have spaced out somewhat as our interactions gradually reduced. But, things slowed enough on the 18th par 3 for them to reach us and immediately begin being aggressive. Doing our best to ignore them we played the hole, instead they hit into us for a second time, with one of their errant tee shots hitting our cart missing the back of the head of one of our golfers by roughly 6 inches. After yelling at them that this behavior is unacceptable they continued hitting into our group twice more. Instead of starting an altercation we took it to the staff at the clubhouse to intervene. The one starter on shift at the time did little to calm matters as he failed to even admit that hitting into other golfers is unacceptable behavior at their club. Instead claiming the situation was no more than a 'he said' argument, even though the group admitted that a couple of balls had 'gotten away from them'. Ridiculous, will never again play a club that cannot police their own clientele enough to say that intentionally trying to harm other golfers is unacceptable.
Pretty, friendly course with relaxed atmosphere.
Greens were in very good condition, but much of the course is in very poor shape, including the cart paths. The course flow is confusing at a few points and not marked very well. If these issues are addressed it will be a much better place to play.
Fairways
Love the layout. All the greens are in good condition but some fairways still need a lot of care. This is not new. I guess they are trying but still need a better effort. If they repair those fairways then it would be a fun course to play.
Terrible!
I play golf all over the us. This was by far the worst condition corse ever. I can’t believe they don’t try to grow grass. The fairways or tee boxes. Maybe having sand and dirt fairways is a new thing??? Stay away!!!
Great value and course
Played the Saturday before the start of the Masters so needless to say, they were busy. Got there an hour early to warm up and practice, and there was a line of people waiting for golf cart availability before their tee time. Again, they were extremely busy with out of town guests so this is understandable.
Course conditions were 4 out of 5. Fairways were in great condition, tee boxes could use a little love but considering the traffic, this was understandable. I played here the week prior and the greens were fast and consistent. Grain direction really affects your roll. The greens seemed a bit less consistent this time around. Some super fast, some super slow. The only negative regarding the greens were they appeared to have some small little spurts of crab grass sprouting in several locations, varying in size from a quarter to a silver dollar in size which definitely affects roll.
The course layout is nice. Hole 16 from the tips is sneaky, highly suggest using a golf gps app to help you understand where to position your drives! All in all, a great and fun course for the price!
Spring golf
Enjoyed my round, but course requires considerable upkeep to fairways.
Great greens
The tee boxes and greens were in great shape. The fairways were good considering the grass is still dormant. A few of the fairways had spots of no grass but were currently being worked on and should be better by spring.
