Lane Creek Golf Club
About
Originally opened in 1992, Lane Creek Golf Club changed ownership in 2006 when it also underwent a major renovation that included redesigning all of the greens and bunkers. The drainage and irrigation systems were improved as well. The lightning fast greens will test even the best golfers and they are always excellently maintained, as are the immaculately manicured fairways. In addition to reshaping the old bunkers, new ones were added to make the golf course more challenging. There are a variety of elevation changes throughout ranging from subtle to dramatic, which adds another level of difficulty to the layout. It is a tough but fair course. Lane Creek Golf Club is a favorite among locals and it is considered one of the best public golf courses in the Athens area.

Fun course with super fast greens
Fun course. Small fast greens make it a challenge. Along with some water hazards and bunker placements. Some of the greens were diseased and need work. These few greens made putting difficult with the bumpy roll. I enjoy playing this course and play it several times a year. Lane Creek has a good driving range with a good chipping area. The putting green is in horrible shape & needs a makeover.
As Expected
As usual the course was in good shape. Always expect to find Lane Creek that way and has never let me down.
"Growing in nicely"
Overall the course is in very good shape for early spring. Aeration is completed and greens have mostly grown back in. There were a couple of greens with dead spots and repaired areas, but overall they were in good condition. Only downside was the practice green was way slower than the greens on the course, which in turn, made for some bad putts all day. Never could adjust to the speed.
Slow Play
Extremely slow play. Allows numerous young groups on course, with Nobody monitoring the pace of play. Some of these young people playing two and three balls ever hole.
Nice
Great course for the average golfer. Nice and short and the greens are very easy to read. Easy to score but it can be easy to run up your score if your not careful. The fairways are well maintained and for the most part, the greens were great too. A few of the greens had some patches but not bad. Shot a 77 my first time playing at Lane Creek and I will be back for sure!!
go golf
course is always in great shape for the time of the year. have played here for several years and would recommend for anyone.
lane creek
This course really needs a starter. Playing as a single you need the starter to help get you going. Instead the guy at the register told me that I better hurry to the tee... and just go off as a single on sunday morning at 8 10... which was twenty minutes before my tee time that I purchased through golf now. Luckily I caught a very nice two some who let me join up. When we left there were 10+ carts at the first tee waiting. Ridiculous confusion.
Always in Great Shape
Love the layout. It's not brutal, but plenty of different, challenging and fun holes to play. Greens are always fantastic. Fairways greening up nicely with the warmer weather and will be perfect very soon. VERY crowded on Masters Saturday and tee times about 30 minutes behind. Management was fantastic in working us in on the back nine to relieve some of the pressure on #1 and keeping us on time. LC always stays on my list of places to play.
Love Lane Creek
Love this course!! Great sight lines, great greens!! Greens are in great shape and roll true everytime!! A must play for golfers of all skill levels. Challenging but fair. If you need lessons go see John at their new training facility.
Fun greens to putt
Played this course a couple of times now and have enjoyed it each time. The greens are what makes this course worth playing. If you enjoy fast sloping greens, give lane creek a try.
Good value, some tough holes
Lane Creek is plenty challenging and I recommend it for any serious golfer in the Athens/Monroe area. It is well-run and pace of play was very brisk.
Great Course
Great course great staff!!! Cant beat what they have done with the course. Not a better course around
Cool day golf
I got out there on one of the first nice days of the year. It started at about 37 degrees and ended up at about 61 degrees. The course was in good shape and the pace of play wasn't too bad for the fact that everyone came out to play on such a nice day. It's a fun course with a number of holes of different levels of difficulty. It plays a little short, but it was fun.
Course was good.
Good course. Has all the practice amenities. Driving range, putting area and chipping area with a sand bunker. Greens have good undulations making putting tricky.
Fairways are in good shape!
Its a good course...but the people around their should learn golf ediquete. 2 SOME LET ME TROUGH...BUT FOURSOME DIDNT! Had to skip around and come back to finish my round.
Good Course
Fairways and Greens were in great shape. The greens were difficult to read and fast after the hole. Most of the puts are speed control as the put will break at the hole if the speed is not right on. If you miss prepare for a least 3th to 4ft back to the hole. the only negative was the group of 5 that slowed played on the front 9. The course should reconsider allowing that.
My favorite course to play
Even though this course is about a 40 min drive for me (Lawrenceville) its well worth the trip. The greens and fairways are in fabulous condition and the staff is very friendly. It is my favorite course in the area.
The fairways was in great shape abd also the greens.
The course was in very good shape. The greens were fast and you had to make the putts.
Fun course
Played this course on a Monday. Weather was great and the course was not too crowded. Course was in good condition, except for a couple tees that were muddy. Great practice facilities as well. A group of 5 skipped me on the tee time, no starter, but I was able to play through after I caught up to them. The scorecard had no pics of the holes, so I had to guess on some holes. All in all, a good course and I will play there again.
Course was in super condition. Greens were fast and true.
I played as a twosome and both of the foursomes in front of us allowed us thru at the par 3's. Very nice people in the clubhouse and on the course. Overall a great value for the money.
