Lane Creek Golf Club
About
Originally opened in 1992, Lane Creek Golf Club changed ownership in 2006 when it also underwent a major renovation that included redesigning all of the greens and bunkers. The drainage and irrigation systems were improved as well. The lightning fast greens will test even the best golfers and they are always excellently maintained, as are the immaculately manicured fairways. In addition to reshaping the old bunkers, new ones were added to make the golf course more challenging. There are a variety of elevation changes throughout ranging from subtle to dramatic, which adds another level of difficulty to the layout. It is a tough but fair course. Lane Creek Golf Club is a favorite among locals and it is considered one of the best public golf courses in the Athens area.

Good course for the dollar
I played this course twice in the last week and had the same experience both days. This use to be my favorite course but not this week, maybe again next week. Was over crowded, long cart lines both days. And no personnel present. People waiting on carts both days. Players had to fend for theirselves.
Will be GREAT when the grass greens up
Played Lane Creek for the very first time and was impressed. While the course is off the beaten path, the greens are fast and true. The fairways were about what you'd expect for early spring (I see no reason why the conditions won't be superb in a month). As previously mentioned by another reviewer, the lack of carts is a significant problem. Our round was delayed by over 45 minutes as we waited for carts. To the manager's credit, he gave my group free food/drink and passes for a return round to make up for the slow start. Really good course, fantastic service. We'll be back.
Great Course
I'm looking forward to playing when the grass is green!
So glad they are part of Golf Now.
Overall nice condition...they just need buy a few more golf carts.
The course is in nice condition generally and is well maintained. Champions bermuda greens are tough but roll true. Overall a fun course. The only complaint I have with the course is the shortage of golf carts. We finished our round at noon on a Saturday. When we got to the parking lot people were circling around us like vultures. The starter actually asked us to hurry up and get out of the carts. The owners need to pony up and buy more golf carts. Otherwise a very enjoyable day of golf.
Course is well maintained with fast greens!
Carts are nice. Course in good shape. Nice tee boxes. Sand traps in good condition. Greens were the fastest I have played in several months. The only negatives I found were the cart paths having cracks and the snack bar was closed. Enjoyed my round!
Always a joy to play this course.
Even with the fairways somewhat bare due to the winter impact, this course is always fun and challenging to play. Can't wait for the fairways to green-up.
cant be beat for this deal
It would take a dummy like me to take up an offer of $14 for 18 holes of golf at this course. Why would I take it? Because the course is great and the pro, chan, is always great also. Course is always maintained and I have nothing bad to say about it. Now, why am I the dummy for taking it? Because I cannot pass up this course for an insanely good deal like I got. And the deal was there because it was a tee time before 8am and it was windy and 30 degrees outside! That's why I'm the dummy but the course could not have been better.
Enjoyable course to play at a good value
The course is a lot of fun to play. It has a nice mix of short and long par 4s that allow even higher handicap golfers to enjoy their rounds without feeling overwhelmed by the length or difficulty of the course. I'll definitely play there again.
Great Greens
The courses greens are in great shape.Overall the course is a very enjoyable course to play, not to hard and not so easy if you dont drive the ball well.
This is a great course for all handicaps. The course offers a great oppurtunity to score well.
Lane Creek is a unique golf course that is shorter than most courses, but it has quite firm and fast greens adding diffuculty on your approach and putting. This is very fair course that can provide a fantastic golf experience.
Great Price for a Sunday Afternoon
To be far, it was a very windy day. Lane Creek has a very nice pratice area, putting green, chipping, bunker, and range. The course was in good shape for winter. I will be going back
Great Course, wrong price
This was my first time to this course and I was pleased with the condition and layout. However, my only concern and dissatisfaction was that the pro shop would not honor the price I booked on Golf Now. They charged me the regular weekend fee instead of the price I booked on the website. Other than that, it was a great course and I really enjoyed playing it.
Good course, slow pace
Course is in good condition. Fast green and nice layout.
The pace of the play was very slow.
4 ladies in the front spend 5 hrs for 18 holes. Marshalle couldn't do anything about it.
Good course
Lane creek is a very nice course great lay out and good service greens are tough but would play there again.
Really good track
Lane Creek is a great layout with a good mix of challenging and scoring holes Well kept and just a fun course to play.
One of my favorite courses!
Played it again yesterday and it was as great as ever. The staff is amazing and they make sure that the pace of play is kept running smoothly. The greens were in immaculate shape and rolling true as possible. I recommend Lane Creek to all my friends. What a truly great course!!
Greens are great
I've play here 4x in the past 1-1/2 mo. I haven't played a vast number of courses but the greens are faster than any I've seen in person other than Augusta during Master's week.
The course is in great condition considering the time of year and the staff is super friendly.
I hesitate to give such a glowing review because I don't want the course to become too crowed but this place deserves kudos.
Greens are nice, true and very fast.
Greens are true and very fast. Undulations will really move the ball if not struck well. Played as a single at the first tee time so completed in 2 1/2 hours!
Superior greens, well maintained course and friendly staff provided a member's experience.
I arrived well ahead of my tee time expecting to wait but the staff made me feel welcomed and voluntarily offered to move me up to an earlier tee time. The course is very well maintained. The greens are exceptional and are fast, challenging and fun, particlularly when chipping. The course layout is very playable with most holes allowing lots of room for your drives but well guarded greens for your approach shots. The par fours consist mostly of either long or short holes. The par threes tend to be longer and more challenging while the par fives are birdie holes.
I've played this course for many years and it's in the best shape I've ever seen it. The only issues are that they need new golf carts.
