About
Originally opened in 1992, Lane Creek Golf Club changed ownership in 2006 when it also underwent a major renovation that included redesigning all of the greens and bunkers. The drainage and irrigation systems were improved as well. The lightning fast greens will test even the best golfers and they are always excellently maintained, as are the immaculately manicured fairways. In addition to reshaping the old bunkers, new ones were added to make the golf course more challenging. There are a variety of elevation changes throughout ranging from subtle to dramatic, which adds another level of difficulty to the layout. It is a tough but fair course. Lane Creek Golf Club is a favorite among locals and it is considered one of the best public golf courses in the Athens area.

Lane Creek was great course
The rate from Golf Now for Lance Creek was great, worth the money. Course was in great shape, but beware of the practice green, don't let it fool you. The course greens are a lot faster and more difficult than the practice green. Only draw back was the price they wanted for playing a extra 9 holes ($20.00) which seemed pretty steep since just paying $ 27 for 18 holes.
Consistently good....
Lane Creek seems to always be in great condition. My only complaint is over-booking around the golfnow times and allowing groups of five to play. Always love playing the course though.

Overall course in great shape. Always a fun course to play & usually in good to excellent shape. Got good price for our foursome using golf website. Recommend playing. We had an afternoon t-time & pace of play was good
quality course
This course is one of the best in the area for quality, price and conditioning. Greens are the best in the Atlanta metro area for a daily fee course. I drove an hour and half based on a recommendation from another good golfer. It was worth it.
The course is always in pristine condition. The fairways and greens are very well cared for and a pleasure to play on.
Very well maintained, greens excellent and consistent
Used to be not well known but is getting heavy play now, almost too crowded...took me 4 hrs, 20 minutes to play 18. Fairways and fringe around greens is coming in now and it will get even better. Greens are excellent, roll true, no bumps and greens are consistent throughout all 18 holes.

Good course. Greens were excellemt and the bunkers were consistant. Layout was a challenge but fair. Would play this course anytime
Course in great shape with excellent greens.
Always worth the drive out to Bishop, GA to play Lane Creek. Course was in fine shape and the greens are as good as any in north GA I have played. Rolled smooth with manageable speed. Especially nice collection of par 3s. Good variety of uphill and downhill holes as well as the design and length of the par 4s. Do not miss the green right in the sand traps on the downhill par 4 6th hole. It is an almost certain bogey and likely double or worse.
Strange Happenings
It’s was $31 and rightfully so.
Check-in was smooth.
No beverage course cart, which on a hot day is too bad.
Range is deplorable. Uneven ground, dry grass, and poor quality balls. I am beginning to think this is a Ma & Pa shop.
The course was in “OK” condition. The course is odd- a bunch of 325 yard par 4s, but to pump up the yardage, there was a 420 yard par 4, with a hidden pond in front of the green. Followed by a 425 yard uphill par 4.
I wouldn’t rush to play it again.
beautiful day for golf
Very nice course with very nice greens and fine pro shop. However the pace of play is slow, probably because of the fine low price attracks a lot of play and the degree of difficulty of several holes , backs up play
A “must play” course in the Athens, GA area
Good layout and excellent greens. Recent heavy rain made the fairways wet, but playable.
Great people
Really enjoy this course. The pro shop person was extremely trendily , as was the snack bar attendant. This course is well maintained. It's a very nice layout, with some very beautiful holes. Great value for your dollar and worth the drive.
