Great course for the value
There is no course around besides maybe wolfcreek that comes close to value. the only complaint is that they wouldn't let me use a solo cart even though there was at least 10 available. They asked for $10 after me and the other solo were already on the first tee.
Manage your rough
I never write reviews, ever. The staff at the place is superb, nice people. I played with 7 other guys last week, easy going guys, regular folk. We all had the same complaint, MANAGE YOUR ROUGH! The length makes balls hit in play- unfindable.
Price was adjusted for aeration but course still in very good shape
Add warning bell on a few holes. Dangerous and slows play
Con:
-Have played here dozens of times. Only concern that can be dangerous or could slow down speed of play is that there are a few holes that are blind. Because course is hilly, holes #2, 4, 8, and 11 have areas that you can't tell if the players have cleared or still there and can be hit. Simple solution used on many other courses is a bell that is rung when area is clear, and group in front has moved on. Alternative is you wait longer than needed or drive up to see if clear then have to drive back, which can add to pace of play.
- Only a Cart person, very limited amenities for 19th
Pro:
-Every hole is a different challenge
- Greens run fast and will run up your score if you aren't accurate in touch and figuring out the many breaks.
- Bunkers are deep and have quality sand.
-You have to earn your score here.
Love the challenge.
Excellently Maintained
Let's cut to the chase, if you can pay 40 or less to play this course it's an easy 5 stars, shouldn't be hard to do since I played mid day on a Sunday at peak hours. If you are someone with time to kill on a weekday when prices are lower or a twilight time, the value is unheard of since the course plays really well and the Greens crew appear to be PGA-esque.
Sadly I had to knock a star off because our foursome unfortunately drew ire from the Ranger(s?) due to our pace, we had what felt like the seniors tour in front of us and what felt like Bryson Dechambeau & friends behind us who either drove the greens multiple times or had balls landing near us due to their power. Maybe that's a bad gripe on my part but it really soured my groups mood since the pace seemed to be perfect.
Tl;dr - 4 stars would play again regardless.
Pleasantly Pleased
I’d wholeheartedly recommend West Pine golf course to anyone in/visiting the Douglasville GA area. It’s a wonderful course, we’ll manicured and slopes/undulations provides a challenging test for all golfers. The only knock is, due to course set up, there’s no club house @ the turn. There’s a cart employee traversing the course, I’m of the position there could be more accommodations, especially during the summer months.
Let the group in front of me play 20 minutes late
I booked a time with no one In front of me of behind just to see a group of 7 playing in front of me split into two group who was suppose to start at 10:50 and 11 but ended up starting at 11:20 which was my tee time, only complaint
Good course for golf only
this was my first time playing this course and I thought it was well maintained and a challenging layout. Don't expect to get lunch here - there is no restaurant. But the pro shop is nice and the bathrooms are clean.
Best in the West!
Best public course in West GA.
Fairways and tee boxes are great, greens are fast and roll true.
The only ‘ping’ on the course would be some hole plugs. If you happen to get an old plug in your line, no good.
