Jekyll Island Golf Club - Pine Lakes Course
About
Jekyll Island Golf Club offers 64 holes of golf, making it the largest public golf facility in Georgia. The courses are a favorite amongst locals and visitors since it's hard to beat the affordable rates. The club features three 18-hole courses and one nine-hole course. Pine Lakes is the longest of the three full-length courses at 6,700 yards from the back tees, though the course is not lengthy by any means. The final hole is the only one on the course with considerable length. The original layout was created in 1968 and underwent a major renovation in 2002. It is similar to the Indian Mound Course, which sits adjacent to it, but Pine Lakes has a more modern bunkering system. Fairway bunkers come into play for long hitters and the bunkers that frame the greens demand accurate approach shots.

Golfer Reviews
Too SLOW
I was a single player with a T-time. I joined the twosome behind me on hole number three. We later teamed up with one player in a group of three in front of me. The other two players in that group were so frustrated with the pace of play and they quit after nine holes. Even after calling the clubhouse and a marshal coming out, it was no help. We had a total of 4 players combined from three different t-time groups and it took 5 hours and 20 minutes to play 17 holes. A storm came and we didn’t get to play number 18. That is insane. Managing the pace of play and putting too many golfers on the course is irresponsible and inconsiderate. I won’t go back.
Pine Lakes on Jekyll Island
The course is in excellent condition. With the Golf Now discount, it is an excellent value.
Tourist golf round
We enjoyed the round. Good condition. Good for the average golfer. Fairways are wide enough, bunkers in good shape, greens fair and quick and carts had GPS. Bunkers well placed but not onerous.
The only negative is what I consider slow pace. It took 4 hours 40 minutes and we teed off at 9:40 instead of 9:20. Not horrible but we waited on virtually every hole. ‘
Lunch was good in the restaurant after the round.
Alligators
I like the fact that there were alligators to be seen on the course. I did see one, although it was only the head sticking out of the water, but it was still cool to see.
Good variety of holes
Sand traps are in excellent condition. From the gold tees, the 18th hole for a par 4 is extremely long (390 yds). I was fortunate to get on I. Regulation with driver, 3 wood into a one club wind. Will defines keep coming back.
Pine Lakes
Course in great condition. Great variety of hole designs. Greena rolled true. Fairways were excellent. Traps had deep sand.
Donkey
Greens were slow with bald spots, fairways were more dirt than grass and t/boxes were in terrible shape! The course was not worth $40 and sure was not worth $95! I am sure not going to play the course again!
Not good
This Course could and should,be,in much better shape. Cart path only is not going to fix it. And certainly not worth the money in its condition and cart path only. A waste of money redoing all the grass last year. Only positive is that the greens roll nice.
April 2025
The revamped course needs some more time to develop but overall in nice shape.
Not good
It is still cart path only on all holes. The grass has not grown in. Tees were bad and fairways only slightly better. Greens about the only part that was ok -rolled pretty good. After the renovation last year it should be in much better condition. All this does not justify the $95 dollars to play it. Should be discounted until these issues are fixed.
Nice Greens
The course is set up for different abilities. Keep it in play and score well.
Greens are hard and fast. Hit high approach shots and you should hold the green, if not you should think about landing short and running up.
Looking forward to playing again.
Maybe just bad timing
Pace of play was an obstacle. Single player in cart should be waived thru a foursome walking and looking for balls in the woods.
Cart Path Only
Had I known they still are not letting carts out. I would not have booked and paid for a cart and chosen to walk instead.
