Collins Hills Golf Club is a little known course to outsiders, but it is a local favorite. The traditional parkland layout tumbles across a rolling terrain. The golf course features small, undulating greens and narrows fairways bordered by towering trees. The layout demands accuracy especially with the numerous sand bunkers that have been incorporated into the design. Several ponds and lakes are scattered across the course, coming into play on seven holes. The layout has its challenges but it is still gentle enough to accommodate a variety of different skill levels. Before playing, golfers can warm up on the driving range or utilize the other practice facilities. Collins Hills Golf Club's atmosphere definitely plays a role in the club's popularity, offering all of the amenities of a private club with a casual and friendly setting

Greens offer a nice challenge

The first time i played this course i was not sure about the blind tee shots that you have to navigate on some of the holes. But after playing the course a second time i found that they are very forgiving which was nice. The greens roll true with some tricky breaks. alot of fun.

Starter had a terrible attitude

Course was under construction it is old and the houses around the course were not kept up or yards clean. The starter acted like he was doing us a favor for being there. He was disrespectful and acted as if we were a huge inconvenience.

Very rough ride in cart. Paths require serious attention.

Decent value for price paid. I never play my normal scores at this course. I think it is because of the layout of elevations.

Looking for value? This is your place.

I was looking for a place to play in the late afternoon and Collins Hill offered the best value. I was able to get in 18 holes in less than 3 hours. Overall the course needs improvements to the fairways and greens. There were a lot of bare spots in the fairways. The greens were ok for this time of year. Looks like they were just spray painted recently. Dont try to hold a drink while driving the cart, as the cart path is very bumpy and rough.
This is a fairly short course. I played the tips and remember only pulling out the driver a handful of times, but was still challenging. It is very hard to get a flat lie, as most holes are on some sort of slope or hill, ball placement is key.

bad experience at Collins hill

The course was completely over booked. We had to wait almost an hour after our tee time before we could tee off. Staff was not helpful at all. Definitely will not go back again. And on top of that we didn't get the full round in. It took almost 4 hours to play 9 holes. Overall experience was not good at all

Lots of hills and dales, twists and turns and small and very fast greens made for a really fun golfing experience I plan to do again very soon.

This is an older and shorter course design, approximately 6200 yards from the back tees, par 71, with small sloped and undulated greens, that can be very fast. Down hill and side hill putts (and chips), are particularly challenging. The course is built on several small hills, mostly tree lined, with a few creeks, water hazards and doglegs here and there. The fairway and rough grass is presently dormant, so you need to pay attention to the slopes of the landing areas because the ball tends to keep rolling down the hill. There are a few side hill type of holes that played particularly tight where you had to hug the trees on the high side so the ball wouldn't keep rolling down hill into the hazard on the low side. A really fun old school round of golf I plan to duplicate very soon.

Good and challenging cheap course

Slow play on weekend morning with lots of people playing. Afternoon is dead, so start a little later and enjoy a better and quicker round. Good course that makes you think about every shot. Some friends hate the crazy slopes on some fairways that turn a good shot into a fairway miss after it rolls down 50 yards across. Large water comes into play in some holes to keep you honest. A lot of holes are near each other so you need to be caution of miss hits. Nice practice green and ship area with sand. Think a better kept city/county course. Older design but still nice layout. Friendly beer lady knows the course well and can help you out with ideas and a cold one. Cheap lunch turkey hoagie is good on the turn.

Nice Course

Course is in good condition. Greens are the best they have been in a long time. Some of the staff were not very nice to the players. It was a very busy day and one lady starter was very rude. Most of the remaining staff were very nice. this is one of the reasons I had stopped playing at Collins hill. thought that the rude staff was no longer there.

Great time. More than adequate course for the value.

It's an older course, that was practically empty when I played with a friend. Nice easy layout. Narrow, with postage size greens, which makes it some challenging, even though it is a shorter course. The greens and fairways are in adequate shape for the winter. Cart paths could use some work. For the Golfnow value of $14 the afternoon I played, and getteing done in 3 1/2 hours, it can't be beat.

Cheap

You get what you pay for....VERY slow play, tiny greens, numerous blind shots. We approached by the starter and told to "go ahead and play Best Ball" after we putt out the first hole (4 23-26 year old who always play ready golf....How about you go find a short cliff and take a long walk, Mr. Starter. REALLY lacking in course management. When we finished up 18 there was a group of about 15 or so waiting on golf carts. Get there VERY early if you can't turn your head from a $25 green fee.

Inconsiderate staff at check-in

Came in 45 minutes earlier than scheduled tee-time. Nobody is on the first tee but staff will not check us in. Instead, we stood and waited in the clubhouse for 30 minutes. There was nobody on the tee box and hardly seen 4 groups of foursomes in the whole course. I play this course almost every week because I never had any issues in the past coming in earlier and the rest of the staff have always been flexible except this one person from yesterday.

Fun course to play

This was a fun layout to play. some holes made you play a different tee shot tha you would usually do. The tee boxes had some bair spots on them but that is expeted this time of year. the fairways are in good condition and the greens are in good shape.

Awesome course with some great views and you can't beat the value

The only thing that slightly disappoints me about Collins Hill is the cart paths. They could use some work but for what they charge, they can't rebuild everything at once. The management company that took over a couple of years ago has really turned this course around and the greens are the best around. I play here frequently and other than pace issues sometimes, it is the best. Also, I think it is a little more difficult than the slope rating would suggest.

Great value for a challenging course

We enjoyed our day at Collins Hill, the greens were dormant, but very fast and the slopes require some precision putting. The course is in pretty good shape for no rain in quite some time. There are holes that definitely challenge your shot placement, but we had a a fun day on the course.

Course is great and I have played before. Challenging, narrow and up and down.

Too may bookings for this particular day. Course personnel were over whelmed and unable to handle properly. Had too wait one hour for a cart and by the time we did get one we had to go to the tee and were unable to hit the bucket of balls we had purchased.

Interesting track

Played on a weekday afternoon and course had plenty of folks on it but moved quickly. Bermuda was dormant everywhere, so greens and fairways were quite fast. Lots of trees and lots of sloping terrain, but not many hazards otherwise. Definitely some penalty for spraying the ball... Considering time or year, no complaints on course condition and maintenance staff was actively out blowing leaves off the greens and fairways during the round. Would definitely play again, but the place does look like it could get backed up on a busy weekend.

Beautiful course and cheap price

The course was in perfect condition and was a lot of fun to play. It was my first round there, so like any first round, I had to figure out how to play it. There was no map on the scorecard, so I did a little hunting and guessing. I will definitely be going back again!
