About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Golfer Reviews
Good Value
The course was in good shape and is a fair set up. The first tee is problematic as it competes with the driving range. Do Not use a yellow ball on #1. Otherwise fun track good value under $40 for sure. Enjoy.
Decent track, good greens.
They need a Marshall to monitor pace of play. Got stuck on the back 9 and the 4 some two groups ahead acted like every put was for 10k. Didn't have water in all of the water stations. Course is nice and I really liked the greens. Got a little pricey since the time I was there. Overall good though
Poor greens
Greens were in poor condition as well as the golf carts...not what I expected for the cost!
Good hidden gem!
Very enjoyable layout and the course is in good shape! A few greens had relatively large patches of totally dead grass, and some tee boxes were bare but still an enjoyable morning overall.
Biggest complaint was that some clueless old fogie (definitely a resident of the community because he had a personal cart) hit an errant tee shot directly into me. I was waiting on the tee box on hole #3, which is directly in line with the tee box for hole #5, and his ball nailed the roof of my cart. I didn’t get a single fore, and when he drove over to hit his second shot, he just scampered away without a sorry or anything. Definitely woke me up!
Providence Club, Monroe GA
It has been several months since I last played here. I noticed many improvements, repairs and generally better course conditions.
First Time Playing
The tee boxes and greens are in need of significant improvements. The fairways weren’t bad given the amount of rain experienced over the previous 7-10 days. The course drains relatively well. There were some areas that still had a significant amount of saturation and not really playable. The cart paths were in most cases in good conditions but in many places the clay/mud runoff was still present thus forcing you to drive off the path and ruin the adjacent area with cart traffic. The beverage cart girl came around once during the entire round and didn’t have any hard liquor (no liquor license) only had beer and a few power axes and nothing more, she had three snacks to offer out of a small Tupperware box and nothing more. The water coolers were all empty except one. I don’t think I’d drive an hour to play this course again. It’s definitely in need of some real maintenance and updates and as long as folks continue to pay and play it the management and owners won’t see the value in making any improvements.
Glorious
Sooo much better than the last time I played there a couple years ago! LOVE the fairway grass!
Greens
Greens are punched and sanded heavily. Almost unputable
