About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Providence golf club
Good course, good people. Acouple wet areas around greens from broken sprinkles and some partially dead areas on greens. Overall a good course with great people. I love it!!

Good Course, Friendly…Nah
The greens and course are in good shape. The track has a good variety of hole layouts for a neighborhood course. The fairways are not narrow although they are aligned with houses.
The cart paths are trash, especially parking near the greens. I bounced around in my cart on nearly every hole. The tee boxes need some work, mostly weeds, but they have been recently sprayed. The cart girl did come around, but her selection was very limited on a hot day.
I would play the course again but the clubhouse staff were not friendly. From my observations, they definitely catered to members and not to club guests.
I would play the course again knowing that friendly faces will be as hard to find as my golf ball!!!

Course Conditions
Fairways, bunkers, tees and most greens were in great shape. The fairways were nice, green and plush and the greens rolled true and fast. The bunkers had good, quality sand. The course offers multiple tee boxes for each hole to assist a variety of skilled players.

Improved!
This track has always been fun to play. The layout is great, not too hard but not too easy. I’m impressed with the improvements of the course that the management has made. The greens were in great shape compared to last couple of years. Fairways and bunkers were. Only knock from me is the cart paths especially between holes 1 and 2 , it’s definitely a teeth chattering ride.

Solid Track with Challenging Layout
This course is in great shape. Well maintained and multiple tees for every skill level. Staff was very friendly and pace was great. Greens in good shape but the breaks were hard to read as what should of been are deceiving (little break on most putts). First time playing and look forward to playing again as some of my mistakes were caused by not being familiar with nuances. Morning tee off on the way to Athens for an afternoon game is highly recommended!

First time playing in a while at Providence
Love the course, only minor complaint is that it appeared that the first cut off the fairways needed to be cut. Had several shots that I saw the general area where the ball landed within 5-10’ from edge of fairway but could never find the ball as it was so thick and deep. Other than that the course was great and I love playing here.
