About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Nice Improvements!
Played twice earlier in the year including tournament play. Course wasn’t in the greatest of shape. But as usual the maintenance crew gets it back up to par. Greens are in good shape but a little slow..fairways were decent as also the bunkers

Providence golf
Greens are in bad shape for Bermuda greens. Some area are light brown . For $57 on Sunday not worth that price for green fees . Based on condition of greens. Will be probably be fall before greens heal.Also the way the greens where cut and condition of them . Make hard to put and score

Fun 9 holes
Last minute booking for a quick 9 holes and we had a blast. Great layout and fun to play.

Greens
#1 and number #3 greens were in a little rough shape. The rest of the greens were in good to very good condition.

Course Review
Play Providence often and found greens in stressed condition and very slow. Understand difficulties due to recent weather conditions. However enjoyed playing the course.

Why advertise walking this course?
Some courses offer a walking option on the Golf Now site. Providence does and I decided to try it. But taking a look at the course, I’m really, really glad I decided to get a cart instead. This course is designed to RIDE, not walk. It would be ridiculous to walk this track. That being said, the greens were not in good shape. They were for the most part, under repair. But the design was quite good—no complaints there. Improvements are needed to get the track up to its potential. I hope they make it happen.
