Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Course is fine, in decent shape, got stuck behind 4 high school kids hitting 2-3 shots a piece on every hole. They threw clubs, ran around - general non-golf behavior.

You never know!!!

The reason for that title is you just never know what you will get when you show up out here. It’s a great track and love coming out here when it was in the shape and pace of play that is was today. Was at its best. The greens are coming in nicely. Last time we played it was painted mud for the greens and real flat fairways but this time it was a course well on its way to being a must play track. They have redone the driving range and was very pleased at what they have done to the tee area. And my reason for 2stars on off course amenities because there was no water in the cooler on #13 and didn’t see anywhere else you were able to get water so there may have been some places, I just didn’t notice them. Staff and starter were on point and continued to come around and let us know the condition that we’re in front of us. So overall very pleased and look forward to going back!!

Get Out There

I was more than delighted with the course! Visiting from Ohio I am not used to the Bermuda rough but it was MORE than fair. Greens were fast enough for the slopes. Pin placements tough but fair. Lots of forced carry but manageable from the white tees if you hit it 180+.

Played early on a Monday and 3hr round was more than acceptable. Pro shop staff very nice and Janet in Snack Shop/Bar was more than friendly—She was awesome!

I will return!
