About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Golfer Reviews
Open earlier
Had a 7:10 am tee time. Wanted to hit balls but pro shop didn’t open until 6:50 am.
Thanks so much for your 4 star rating!
Very playable
This is one of the few courses not overwhelmed with players and the staff are very accommodating. Practice green has been ravaged by disease but the coarse greens are good with numbers 1and 12 a little rough. Fairways are very good and tees are OK. A good course that looks easy but can be tricky if not careful.
Thanks for the honest feedback! We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Thanks so much for the 5 stars!
As described by other reviews
I read other reviews of this course before going out last Friday for the first time, and they were accurate. The fairways and greens have likely not been watered this season.
The fairways play like concrete and it was not uncommon to get a 10ft+ bounce off the drive. Tee boxes were hard as rock and almost impossible to drive a long tee into, it took me multiple attempts to tee a ball up. The greens were okay and the only thing it seems they water. But even those were incredibly patchy on some holes.
Lastly, the folks working in the pro shop were hardly friendly, especially given that I was up at 8am on a Friday to play their course. This course desperately needs some more investment. It is hardly worth the hot deal price and will likely end up like Pine Hills if more care isn't put into the course.
Thank you for your honest feedback, and we hope you'll give us another try again in the future.
Greens need work
The greens were very uneven and had huge patches of bare ground.
We appreciate your honest feedback, and hope to welcome you back again soon.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
Thank you for your 4 stars!
Greens in really bad shape
Unsatisfied with greens being so terrible. I dont understand why they cant just list or tell people the greens are bad. Be honest for crying out loud. Price it cheaper and let your customers know. Then the choice is ours. If they call it "greens fees" then people shouldn't pay anything. Greens were bad and that's being nice. Now the rest of the course was nice. Its gonna be a long time for those greens to grow. Maybe see ya in a year or two providence
Hello, lickliter. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for your experience during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will use this to make improvements.
Good value. Friendly staff.
Overall course was in good to average condition. Greens were in average condition. Green fees was a good value.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and rating!
Great Layout
Greens need to be replaced, they are not coming back. Rob
Thanks for your feedback, Rob.
Greens need some work
Pretty descent course overall, the greens however do need some serious repair. It is way out in the boonies so they should really get the greens in better shape to make it worth the drive from Atlanta...
Thanks for the honest feedback, and we will use this to make improvements.
Excellent Course in Monroe
The Providence Club is one of my favorite courses. The pace of play was great, they have a great snack bar to grab food before, during and after the round. The staff is friendly. The course is narrow on some holes and wide open on other holes. The greens were not in their best condition, I think the Georgia heat is tough on them. Overall, great course, I tend to shoot better on this course. I will always play The Providence Club.
We appreciate your review, as well as your honest feedback!
Saturday June 5th
This course is rough and needs some work. Had a tough time finding a place to play on Saturday with a friend in town. Decided to try it. Not worth $55 for Saturday morning. Tee boxes ground is hard as a rock, greens were rough. Fairways were ok. The grass overall needs a lot of water on this course. The cart paths needs some repaying. This is more like a $20 course, very comparable to Collins Hill golf course in Lawrenceville.
Hello, Tom. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Providence Club.
Thanks for the rating. Please feel free to comment further on any suggestions or feedback you may have for us.
Greens were terrible.
Bumpy, holes punched weeks ago. Bermuda greens should be great this time of year.
Thanks for the feedback, and we hope you'll give us another try again in the future.
Great course / front greens need work
My son’s and I had a great time and my oldest nearly broke 80 for the first time. It wasn’t my fault he didn’t after he overshot final green after my recommendation. Only complaint were that front side greens were lost and in the worst shape we have seen for them. Please invest whatever needed to repair.
Thank you for your feedback, and we will use this to make improvements!
