Deception and lies
The so called ranger(cartboy) approached us on #16 and said that we were told by the woman in the clubhouse that we had to be in by 8. We weren’t told this but came in anyways because it was 8:05. DNR pulled in as we were unloading our clubs. They made us stay while they went into the clubhouse to ensure that we paid to play. They were told that we resisted coming in which is another lie told by the cartboy that just wanted to leave. DNR called the clubhouse lady who said that she told us to be back in by 730. That is another lie as she mentioned nothing of the sort. After the extra 15 minute hold up we still left 15 minutes before it got dark which is the presumed closing time. The four of us will never return simply because of the lies alone. We didn’t break any rules and were treated as if we were criminals. This is my first ever review. Take my advice and steer clear of this low class course!
Fabulous during hard times
This course is always in the best condition possible; far superior to most other courses. We love to play this course because it is always a challenge. If you can score on this course you will be able to play most other courses. Go and play golf and make this course a definite stop on your rotations. Bring your big boy pants and bring your tissue, because you will be crying over some of your shots.
Fun Course - GREAT Value
Course was in very good shape, especially the greens. Course is not long but fairly challenging because of the many elevation changes and many blind tee shots. The pace of play was excellent. We very rarely had to wait at all which I love. One of the very best things about the course is that it is an EXCELLENT value. For the price you pay (the course is part of the Victoria Bryant Georgia state park) you get a great course. You can play courses for a similar price, the quality and conditions of those courses do not even come close to Highland Walk.
Good Value
Course was in good shape, especially the greens. Course is not long but fairly difficult because of the different changes in elevation. The pace was good for a Saturday and all in all great value for the price.
Fun and challenging course
This course is nice in that there is no development around it. It is a fun course, but challenging. First timers will struggle to know shot selections.
Great course during coronavirus
Great day on our favorite course during the coronavirus state stay in place order. The course practiced all the necessary precautions. The course was in perfect condition and the spring greens were great. This course is truly a gem in Georgia so get out and play. Support our state park golf courses. And all golf courses. Don’t let this recreational sport be mitigated by a virus. We all need exercise.
A Gem
Great course! Challenging and fair, but you cannot spray it around. Every hole on the course has character! Greens and tee boxes were in great shape, fairways are just starting to green up. Cannot wait to go back!
Fun, Challenging Course - Great Value
I have played the Highland Walk at Victoria Bryant several times. It is one of my favorite courses in north Georgia. The course is very challenging with lots up elevation changes and lots of holes both uphill and downhill. You cannot miss many shots from the tee or the fairways or you will be in trouble and have a tough time making par.
The people (pro shop, cart attendants and others) are always friendly and nice. The carts all have a cooler for ice, which is always a nice touch and much appreciated.
The greens were quite slow due to the warmer weather is bringing in the new spring grass which is starting to grow. The greens still roll true, but they are just quite slow. The greens are big with quite a bit of slope and undulations. The greens have very few ball marks which is great. I really dislike playing greens that have lots of non-repaired ball marks. Great job grounds crew and greens keepers!!! Overall, the course is in great condition, as it always is. For a public course, it is always in fantastic condition.
The layout is very fun and conducive to challenging all areas of your game. Driver, fairway woods, long irons and short irons are all used on the various array of challenging and easy holes. Accuracy is needed on most holes, except maybe holes 1 and 2. The first hole and second holes are easy and lulls you into thinking that this course is a cake walk and you will shoot a great score. But soon the golf gods slap you in the face when you get to hole number 3 and then the challenge for the rest of the day is on!
Everyone should make the trip to enjoy the scenery and a day out you will enjoy and a fantastic value.
Elevation changes, very few level lies, good test.
Course was in nice condition considering all the rain we've had this winter, just a few soggy spots. Not a long course, but course knowledge is very handy here. Definitely a track where shot making is important. Course will get even better when it drys out and they're able to cut the greens and fairways.
Worth the drive
I spend about 3 hours driving back and forth to get to this course, worth the drive
Winter rounds
Our favorite course which we play all the time. However; yesterday the greens were a little slow, but that was not due to the staff. The warmer weather is bringing in the new spring grass which is starting to grow on the greens. They still roll perfectly, but the different shades make it harder to see the lines. This course is the best to play in either winter or summer. Come and challenge yourself on a course where you cannot miss any shots; from the tee or the fairway.
Our favorite
This is the best course in north Georgia offering the best layout and challenges. We always love coming to this course because the greens roll true and you must hit your driver and irons straight. Put this course on your rotation only if you like a challenge.
