Bacon Park Golf Course

This course is trash. Especially when they charge $50 for a round of golf. Pace of play was terrible. I’ve never seen a golf course look this bad.

I have never played a course that hole number nine didn’t butt up against the clubhouse. There was no one on the course selling refreshments. Management has done a very poor job. The system for keeping the cards on the cart path is out of wack. The cart paths are difficult to tell from the surrounding fairways.

Cart paths are ridiculous and rough. Most paths are not clearly marked or identified. The stop mechanism on the carts are frustrating and maddening to deal with.

We won't be returning to that course.

The young girl working the desk was rude and should learn sometthing about customer service .

Course tee to green no issues. Fairways tight and fast. If you can't hit off tight lues this course not for you. No overseed anywhere. I like that. Few greens need healing but the pins are awy from the bad spots. Green roll about a 9. I think 2 of them have been totally re done because the greens were a little slower. Had a good time. Weather perfect. No halfway house, no putting green and no water on course. I wouldn't blame the course for my score.

Not sure what your gonna get in the winter. Tee to green just fine. Fairways dormant so had great roll out. Some greens need some work. Pins were in position to avoid some bare spots

The course was pretty decent for the price. Some of the greens had a lot of patches some of other Tee box had a lot of sand and no grass. The Fairway was decent. Overall, I give it A 5 out of 10.

No water on our cart. Waste of time playing here. The fairways and greens are horrible! Won’t be back!

Lots of paint spray used to dress up the course, but that's OK. The GPSon this course should be reprogrammed. Got stuck way to often and then trying to find the next green to aim for was tough.Greebs were terrible but ok with heat.Still unacceptable. Sure glad we only wasted $80 with Golfnorth.Do you gather info before you add courses. SAD day,and my wife quit after 14.

This course was about of fun. The greens were hard to get use to and were not in the best conditon, but i had a great time and the couple i got paired with were awesome. Overall I will be going back.

For a $40 18 hole Donald Ross course its what you should expect. Rough around the edges but still a very fun and and playable track. Played here for the first time after playing other courses around the area and i can comfortably say this is one of the better ones when it comes to what you are paying for. Definitely playing again soon!

I was excited to play a Donald Ross course and because it was the pride of Savannah, Georgia, and its only municipal course, was sure I would have a great time.

The staff was nice and there didn't seem to be very many players. They had fairly new carts and the club house was adequate.The course had no yardage books nor did the scorecards have any pictures of the hole's layout.

When I drove to the 1st tee, there was no tee number or yardage marker and I had to decide whether the tee box markers about 40 feet to the right of the dirt cart path was the place I was to tee off from.

The fairways were not terrible but could have used a closer mowing. They had patches of crabgrass and poa anna in many places.

The rough had a lot of damage from mowers that had apparently been stuck on several holes.It was also quite deep and full of crabgrass and weeds.

I finally found a restroom on #14, that was hidden from view and I got directions from a crew member who was driving around in a gator.#9 does not take players back to the clubhouse.

The bunkers had no drainage and were either water hazards or mudslides.

The greens had poa Anna on many and a couple were like playing obstacle golf reminiscent of the Plinko game on the Price is Right. Most of the greens had severely damaged patches where they were either not properly watered or insects and fungus was not killed quickly. On some greens the drainage looked as if someone cut a ditch into them.

The website said the course had been reconditioned to the old specifications Donald Ross built. Usually the fairways are tree-lined and narrow, but these were mostly like a links course.

Savannah should be embarrassed that their "Gem" municipal course is in this condition. It is hard to believe a city like Savannah won't put up the money to fix this course into the quality Donald Ross designed it to be.

I would probably have scored at least 6 or seven strokes lower if I could have putted or didn't lose golf balls in the fairways.I don't know if the maintenance crews are inexperienced, underpaid, or understaffed.

I play a 1919 Donald Ross course in Wilson that is in much better shape and only $30 on the weekend. And their municipal course is immaculate.

I will drive down here next year and see if the City of Savannah has fixed this course. If they don't, I'll play somewhere else.

The greens on a handful of holes were pretty chewed up. The place didn't look like it has been cut in a 2 weeks and the rough was prime to lose balls in plain sight. This place has the nerve to have gps carts but almost no cart paths so found myself getting stuck quite often. In short they could have taken the money from the carts and just improved the course. If it wasn't for the deal time with a promo spend your 50 dollars someplace else.

kudos on the 3 green restorations. they are holding up pretty well so far. they are making an effort to improve the conditions. the fairways and tee boxes are in pretty good shape.
