Poor green conditions and poor pace management by rangers
We played here on Saturday (18) and Sunday (9). On Saturday the pace of play at the first 6 holes was going fine. We had a group in front of us that forced us to tee off on their 3rd shot which slowed the pace of play down. The ranger confronted us saying we are “15 mins behind pace” and it was “a dumb idea for us to tee off from the blue tees”. Very poor customer service and pace management. The back nine greens are in terrible condition. Hole 10 had massive holes in the greens. I looked like a maintenance tool spiked the greens.
On Sunday was even more ridiculous. We had a group of women behind us playing 3 from the ladies tees. We had four playing from the whites. We kept good pace with the foursome in front of us. On hole 4 we all tee’d off. After we tee’d off the ranger came up to us and told us to wait on our second shots and let the 3 women tee of and pass us. We complied without hesitation. The women come behind us on the cart path. The ranger then comes back to us and tells us to take our second shot instead. We asked him why he wants us to take our second shot when the women behind us are here and ready to tee off. He replied with “ don’t tell me how to do my job.” We ended the confrontation and continued playing. We were completely rushed and our pace was broken. We all picked out balls up and went 100 yards further to let the women behind us tee off.
The club house reeks of cigarettes.
I come here regularly. I have never had such poor customer service and frustration because of the ranger and course conditions. I will never play here again nor recommend this golf course to others again.

Disappointing Course Conditions
I know it's that time of year when courses do fall maintenance such as core aeration but I think courses should forewarn golfers of what can be expected. Hilldale did not do this on our recent round. The greens were aerated and filled with sand, which made putting very challenging as the ball bumped and bounced while heading to the hole. The fairways were also aerated, which didn't seem to affect play. The tee boxes were torn up too. I played the course earlier this summer and it was beautiful and in great shape. This time it was a 180 from that experience. I hope Hilldale warns golfers of their maintenance like many other courses do.

Great course. In really good condition.
I've played this course many times and there is a couple water holes to watch out for but other than that there are also a couple of birdie holes.

Slow play
I'm sure it was my fault for trying to play on a Friday before a holiday..but still, the play was really slow ..which meant the rangers didn't push anyone.
Great course but had to quit after 16.

Course needs TLC Average at Best
Local golfer, Played this course many of times but 1st time this year. The course is just an average course at best. It’s needs some improvement. Rock hard tee boxes, hard to just get a tee in. Fairways like concrete and bunkers aren’t soft. There’s others near by that are way better layouts, better course conditions, amenities. For the same price. Won’t recommend and won’t be back. A 5star rating is just ridiculous it’s not at all.

Nice Course, No Amenities
We enjoyed our round. Some challenging holes. We were disappointed the cart girl came before the third hole and we told we would buy something when we saw her next and she said she would see us soon. Never saw her again. Wanted to grab a hot dog and something to drink after the 9th hole. Stand was closed. If we go again we are bringing our own cooler with food. If it was a hot and humid day, golfers would have had some issues

In need of watering
Greens, and fairways were very firm with a lot of rollout. You needed a hammer to get your tee in the ground. The bunkers could use some more sand. Tough to play a normal bunker shot. If Hilldale decided to water their course, I would play it a lot more.

I've played at Hillsdale before, fairways need some work but otherwise, a good course for the money.
