Course in great shape
I have played this course a few times earlier this season and it is is great shape now we have had plenty of rain. The pace of play was a bit slow until the ranger came by and told the group in front of us to speed it up. Greens weren’t to fast and some pin placements gave a challenge on ready by the greens. Would definitely recommend this course to play.

Always a fun round!
After returning to golf after a long hiatus, I was pleased that Hilldale remains an excellent value, deceptively challenging, and is a reasonable drive from downtown Chicago. The practice facilities are limited but definitely sufficient for a quick warm up. The course wends through suburbia, often very close to homes. Greens are reasonably fast and in good condition. I have always enjoyed this R. Trent Jones Sr layout, and someday I hope to finally leave enough time after my round to check out the sushi bar.

Great course layout and lots of tee choices
Enjoyed playing Hilldale again (last played in 1980's) after getting a great rate on golf now.

Great Value for a beautiful course
For the price of what you would pay to walk, you get a cart! Hit Mike up at the turn and 1st hole for the best grilled Italian Sausages!

Surprised!!
We were very pleased with the course conditions especially with the lace of rain. Not sure if the rain a couple days earlier was the reason...not likely the reason, but I'm sure the rain helped a little. why is the fairway on #17 been in bad shape down closer to the pond for as long as I can remember? Is there nothing that can be done? Otherwise, perfect conditions and our scores reflected that. 5 hour round was a bit long, but ranger did not help to speed up despite driving around regularly.

Best Greens in the area
I've been sampling several courses in the area and Hilldale had the best greens, by far. A true roll, few ball marks, and a lack of grain make putting here a pleasure. The course isn't particularly long, but the need to play target golf can make things difficult, especially if you find yourself out of position.

Good but not Great
Our round at Hilldale Golf Course was enjoyable, but it lacked the wow factor. The course was in reasonably good condition given the drought we have been experiencing. The greens were in good shape and ran true. I did not like the number of adjoining holes running parallel to one another that frequently resulted in people hitting into our fairway. Also, I felt that the yellow tee markers were often placed on the wrong tee box, given the yardage for the hole specified on the score card.

Definition of VALUE
I visit Chicago for a month every summer and play Hilldale 5/6 times because for $30, you just can’t touch it. Such a great value, rangers stay on slow groups and the course is in incredible condition for $30.
