Great Value for a beautiful course
For the price of what you would pay to walk, you get a cart! Hit Mike up at the turn and 1st hole for the best grilled Italian Sausages!

Surprised!!
We were very pleased with the course conditions especially with the lace of rain. Not sure if the rain a couple days earlier was the reason...not likely the reason, but I'm sure the rain helped a little. why is the fairway on #17 been in bad shape down closer to the pond for as long as I can remember? Is there nothing that can be done? Otherwise, perfect conditions and our scores reflected that. 5 hour round was a bit long, but ranger did not help to speed up despite driving around regularly.

Best Greens in the area
I've been sampling several courses in the area and Hilldale had the best greens, by far. A true roll, few ball marks, and a lack of grain make putting here a pleasure. The course isn't particularly long, but the need to play target golf can make things difficult, especially if you find yourself out of position.

Good but not Great
Our round at Hilldale Golf Course was enjoyable, but it lacked the wow factor. The course was in reasonably good condition given the drought we have been experiencing. The greens were in good shape and ran true. I did not like the number of adjoining holes running parallel to one another that frequently resulted in people hitting into our fairway. Also, I felt that the yellow tee markers were often placed on the wrong tee box, given the yardage for the hole specified on the score card.

Definition of VALUE
I visit Chicago for a month every summer and play Hilldale 5/6 times because for $30, you just can’t touch it. Such a great value, rangers stay on slow groups and the course is in incredible condition for $30.

Great design.
Great Robert Trent Jones layout, course was in good condition the greens were rolling a little slower then in the past but overall the course was in good condition.

Played Hilldale for the first time in over 10 years, and it was nice to play it again.
PACE: The course was packed, and the pace was slow. Our group took just over 5 hours to complete our round.
CONDITIONS: Like all Chicagoland courses in early June 2023, this course needs rain. That being said, the greens are playable and the fairways were reasonable. The bunkers were a bit firm.
STAFF: Got me checked in and out on the course. There was a ranger, but there wasn't much he could do this day. He was friendly and encouraging.
VALUE: Greens fees are inline with prices for the area (which, IMO, is a few dollars high).
LAYOUT: Lots of interesting holes. Water does come into play, but isn't overwhelming. It is demanding off the tee, but not too penal if you miss Some of my favorites are #2, #5, #10, #11, #15, and #17. This course is very walkable.

Pace of play
The back 9 was painfully slow. 3 hours for 9 holes is ridiculous. There was a 6 some ahead of us. I do love the layout of the course with a lot of elevation changes. Greens are challenging.
